For all the things people here say they hate about this game

-How often have you ran around jumping just to make sure you had enough speed points at level up?
-How many times have you left the game running overnight to level up your sneak?
-Do you often feel you need to stand in front of an angry mudcrab in orcish armor?
-Did you speed hours training your illusion skill only to realize you screwed up your level up by running too much and lost a personality point.
-Has you, or someone you know, been stalked by a wood elf?

Just a few points of consideration.

I can think of a lot of things for "Skyrim haters" to take into consideration...

I never did any of those things in any of TES games, except the woodelf part, and I've played them all several times.

Edit: And there is plenty to say about Bethesda's half-assed "finished" product called Skyrim.

no on all of them but the last one (0 times where it applies), but i stalked that wood elf back!

i never powergmaed for no reason, but, since other people feel soem wierd need to, attributes should have been you get x attribute points to spend on anything when you level up, if only to make people hush about their strange need to powergame yet calling it the games fault, i miss attributes

That's good. Then you don't feel the need to maximize in a video game, I guess. I don't feel like that's necessary this go around. I did in all the past titles. The leveling system would punish you otherwise.

Never, not in any game I ever played. Not in Morrowind, not in Oblivion.
-How many times have you left the game running overnight to level up your sneak?
Never.
-Do you often feel you need to stand in front of an angry mudcrab in orcish armor?
No, never.
-Did you speed hours training your illusion skill only to realize you screwed up your level up by running too much and lost a personality point.
No.
-Has you, or someone you know, been stalked by a wood elf?
No.

I don't really get the point of this thread. I understand these things are exploits or "bad" features from previous TES games, but still...

It was always better to just let acrobatics and athletics level up naturally and never pick them as mahors or minors. Also efficient levelling was not necessary. It just OP'd your character. My favorite character was never levelled effiiciently (ie, making sure to get +5's at all level ups). He was still viable and fun at high level. My efficiently levelled mage was completely OP, and while still fun, not as fun as my other toons.

I always played with MMM.
I never really felt op, but maybe I didn't play to a high enough level. (50's is where I stopped. I always zero all skills at start.)

Like most people, never.

Because Acrobatics wasn't tied to Speed; it was tied to Strength :P

yh gd post.

I for one really like the way the leveling is done now.

I also like the way it allows anyone to be anything better. Skyrim is going to have Norse who are mages and Summerset Isles are going to have teams of warriors expert with swords. It works much btter this way. I am really pleased with my character levelling. I don't feel like I've made mistakes and have to go back and start again.

In OB it was tied to speed.

- have you created your own custom spell?

- did you fight in an arena?

- have you went to a mages school with lots of students at it?

- did you wear greaves or a second ring?

- have you gotten a house that doesn't dump your possessions on the floor?

- have you selected a birthsign?

Oh wait, those are good things from Oblivion that are missing! :vaultboy:

Actually, I still have to stand in front of angry mudcrabs if I want my armor skill to be any good. And you can still exploit sneak if you feel like it. I get what you're saying but your examples are lacking.

I'd take the crappy level system in the older games in exchange for spellmaking alone. Although I think spellmaking is going to be easier to replicate than making a good leveling system so in the long run it may be a fair trade. The thing is honestly the leveling system is not perfect so people are going to be making lots of leveling systems anyway. So yea give me spellmaking instead.

In OB it was tied to speed.

Well, I didn't do it in Oblivion either because it (acrobatics) had a height cap, so there wasn't much point in getting up to 100.

I just ran into a random corpse labelled "Dead Nord" while doing a Companions quest, so naturally, I did what anyone would do in that situation, and ripped his clothes off. As soon as I closed the loot window, I was given a miscellaneous mission to tell Heimjall's family he was dead, and a magical marker appeared on my map telling me exactly where they were. I have absolutely no idea how I determined his name or where his family is. I mean, really, would it have been that hard to put a note on his corpse that said "Tell my family in Rorikstead that I hated their guts. - Dead Nord"?

That's my problem with Skyrim. I have to roleplay as a psychic to make the quest system believable. More dialogue and a slightly upgraded quest journal would change that. Everything else is amazing - well, okay, some of the voice acting isn't - but almost everything else is. Seriously - orcs shouldn't sound like the kid who sits behind me in Chem 151.

Never did any of that in previous titles. If you dont want to do annoying things then dont. I never grinded and yet I managed to somehow play through the games.

And besides what do any of those have to do with Skyrim's flaws?

If you don't want to use the quest system, there is one other option to make RP easy: CLAIRVOYANCE. Get it. It's an illusion spell, costs almost nothing, very little mana cost, and DOESN'T IMPROVE YOUR SKILL.
