I play hardcoe on very hard, and I found a medical skill of about 50-70 is all you need. I'v found this to be no challenge for "hardcoe"

Also, since there is an abundance of chems // stims // super stims // food around, and taking enough Rad away will give you a perk, it makes you need those perks less and less.

If anything, you may want a little radiation. The perk Rad Child is incredibly useful, especially in hardcoe for melee and unarmed players. So is pack rat. Don't get lead belly or rad absorption. Total waste.

Keep a list of H20 supplies around the map, you'll probably need that more than anything else in this mode.

There is no need for them at all.

hardcoe is very softcoe especially with water sources and food everywhere.

If you don't ever use quick travel on the other hand...

I never take Lead Belly, since I am constantly making large quantities of Purified Water and always carry some with me. I also have the canteen from the Classic preorder pack, which reduces my need to drink in the first place.

I do take Rad Absorption though, since I rarely have much Rad-Away on hand and do not use the Rad Child perk. In fact, I altered how much radiation Cave Fungus removes and increased its availability somewhat so that I could go full-bore Survivalist mode and not be dependent solely on Rad-Away for my radiation reduction needs. In fact, I have some characters that only use the fungus and sell any Rad-Away they find.

Is either one 'needed'? No. Can you make an interesting character concept based on manipulation of internal radiation levels? Absolutely, so if you want to use them, go for it. Heck, with proper use of these and a couple of other perks you can practically play as a Ghoul, if that's your thing.

I played through on hardcoe and i found if i had H20 either dirty or purified water and a few bits of food i was fine, i mainly used stimpaks through the game, im not one for taking any sort of Chems and i had plenty of Radaway. Carrying extra things like food etc does hinder you with their weight but they are worth it! :foodndrink:
