I for one want to give a big thanks to the New Vegas Devs

Post » Mon May 02, 2011 3:24 pm

I just want to say thanks, it truly reassures me as a hardcoe Fallout fan that you guys would take time out of your lives to look at fan concerns and worries. It's incredibly reassuring to see that some of you have the time to answer our questions.

I for one am eagerly awaiting the release of New Vagus, I understand that you've just finished what I could only conceive as an overwhelming project but your still able to give the bits of info which your allowed and, every time I see a Obsidian or Bethesda tag, I'm filled with some joy because, were not getting simple speculation.

As a gamer, as a modder I truly thank you for all of your efforts.

Many thanks to Obsidian and Bethesda for the wonderful job they do on their games and for the utmost respect they show for their customers. It is truly a rare thing in this industry. Josh Sawyer in particular gets special props for not only ensuring that guns act as realistically as possible, but for taking the time to hang out and post among the lay people.

I haven't bought a game full price in a long, long, time and I can already tell I won't be disappointed by the money I'm going to spend on this one.

Vegas.

But yeah, it's always nice to see developers hanging around on their message boards. Shows they care, at least a little, about the fans, and not the money inside of the fans.

Yes I have to say that the Obsidian team, especially J.E. Sawyer are much more community friendly than any other development company that I've experienced. It does mean a lot to us fans that they will take the time to respond to posts and questions on a semi-regular basis.

my point exactly, just needed to be said "out loud". I'm reading all of these threads about what Pre-order did you get or, who will you play? Just wanted to start something to show the guys behind the real project that we appreciated there efforts.

I know it's a job-of-work for Obsidian and Bethesda, but these games are also a labour of love, so I have enormous appreciation and admiration for what they do. Can you imagine being given a blank canvas and asked to write a game bigger than Fallout 3? omg...

I am also grateful that they aren't here more often, tbh. I know if I was a dev, the temptation to bust into a thread and go "noooo, what actually happens is..." would be overwhelming. So thanks for having super-human willpower too :mohawk:

Agree 100% with the sentiments!

But posts here do not go far enough... We must show our appreciation for years to come with hundreds of game hours played, thousands of posts on the forums, good mod contributions released to the community and ample blood sacrifices! :disguise:

Okay maybe not blood sacrifices, but definitely the long love. :fallout:

I'll share the real thanks for post game-day, when it will matter the more.

You are too kind Cev. :)

Regarding contributions, if I can share some love here - with over 121,000 downloads of your DC Interiors Mods, they are already the stuff of Fallout3 legend! :goodjob:

I can't wait to see how you flesh-out the interiors of the New Vegas area. :foodndrink:

But the real love will be for the Obsidian and Bethesda staffs - both I hear put in alot of guts and blood to make this new dream real. I could never say enough in thanks...

Hmm a thank you thread ey?
Thank you Bethesda for reviving the series (even though your product had several flaws which I hope are fixed by Fallout 4) and allowing a lot of the original Black Isle devs to create a game.
Thank you Sawyer for getting rid of Big Guns and for distributing the Gatling Laser, Flamer and Incinerator to Energy Weapons skill.
Thank you Obsidian for creating hardcoe Mode and hopefully balancing the game more.
Thank you Michael Dorn for re-representing the role of Marcus.
Thank you Felicia Day for agreeing to be a voice actor for a companion.
Thank you Jason Bergman for being such a handsome man.
BUT.
on the other hand I won't thank you for the stupid release date.
Placing it on a friday was a bad move for us in Europe who order over the internet, a lot of us won't get it until monday, tuesday or even wednesday, a week after the US release.

It svcks that devs usually shy away from forums so that they dont get in trouble for releasing too much info.

Yep, my life would be pretty sad and pointless if it weren't for games like this to enjoy and look forward to.

Well, it is sad and pointless, but it would be more so.

You should be a motivational speaker...
I am very happy that the developers take an interest in the forums, if it weren't for the fact that they did i would be on another forum (i swear the mods on here are like the gestapo sometimes). I greatly anticipate handing you guys more of my money!

Gestapo? No, completely and utterly wrong. We model ourselves after the Committee for State Security. :shifty:

Well said you all. I as well would like to thank Bethesda for reviving this series, thus introducing me to it, Obsidian for only showing us 5-10% if that, and yet tiny percentage is so amazing and visually stunning that I find myself thinking its very beautiful, and I envy the dev teams skills. I also want to thank Bethesda and Obsidian for taking time out of their work to post here to let us knwo about the game as well as themselves.

Maybe a few influences from the KGB. /jk
Nothing personal i just find some of the interpretations the mods find in the rules to be a overtly strict.

I would like to thank them for making Fallout, Fallout 2 and Fallout New Vegas.

With out them probably joking around about nukes and the end of the world and stuff like that we would have never of gotten fallout. But most great games and companies were formed around 1 good idea, friends and probably some liquor. EX: Bungie: Halo/ Obsidian: Fallout/ Whoever started the Spyro series: Spyro/ Infinity ward. . . wait there based around greed so. . ./ but treyarch: WAW and BO.

Good job Obsidian for making this great game, good job to Bethesda for letting them develop a fallout game and for giving them the engine that they can use for the game. I hope Bethesda takes notes for Fallout 4 as some of the stuff that Obsidian put and did in New Vegas I wouldn't have a problem with them doing in FO4 but I'll answer that question myself when I play New Vegas.
