Forced to wipe out the BOS!?

I have not seen this one in the forums, although there is the one where they just keep telling you to come back. You cannot get the power armor training either. I was thinking "whatever". Now I am on the quest "For the republic, part 2" where I'm asked to go deal with the BOS. I do not have any other dialouge options, and obviously when I go there, they are stuck in there transfer of power to the new Elder. Now I am forced to go in there and slaughter every one of them. How stupid I'd that.

You would have to slaughter them anyway. Only McNamara would agree. You're stuck partially because you chose to put Hardin in power.

Have you waited outside of the bunker for some days? That is the way I did it. When you get to friend with them, there will be an option to make a friendship between BoS and NCR. :)

EDIT: well if you kicked the old dude... :) I don't know.

While it svcks that you cant get power armor training, your choice to put Hardin in charge would have lead you to this same conclusion.

If you want to make it easy on yourself, reprogram the turrets on the first level. They will take care of the majority of the BOS. Then you only have to worry about the lower level. The terminal is on the back wall in the room to your left as soon as you go in.

first off the BOS are not automatically good guys. Previous games left it to you to decide either they are your friends or not or even how they operate (FO:T). But they are enemies of NCR...

If you put Hardin in charge I don't know how you can make peace between NCR and BOS either. They do make it easy to eliminate them though

Spoiler
go in and rig the reactor to blow up

otherwise if you are on the side of the NCR you are stuck doing their dirty work...sorry. Just remember that in the FO Universe The Brotherhood are not as noble as they claim to be and after a long bloody war with the NCR the chapter you are gonna wipe out are basically terrorists in the eyes of the NCR.

Yeah, I kind of figured that was the mistake. Oh well, they are gone now. Lol

On my first playthrough, I had not met the BoS prior to heading there for the NCR. Had some extremely tough fights there which was great. After they take you in at first and ask you to kill that ranger guy, well... I talked to him but didn't kill him. And of course, this resulted in like 4 BoS guys coming down to take care of business. Was hella tough seeing as how my character wasn't a combat-focused one and there's not a lot of room to maneuver down there.

Cleaning out the rest of the bunker was a bit easier since I could choose my battles differently (and make use of the turrets).
