This is bugging me bad and not only can I not complete the companion missions, but im afraid I now wont be able to become a vampire with the new dawnguard dlc. Any ways around this or is their an update coming up for it?

What's wrong? Why can't you complete the Companion's Quests?
I know there's a glitch that appears there some times and I found a way around it.

They just stay outside of jorrovaskr and keep saying the silverhand finally attacked, and when i go inside vilkas is sitting by the head of the companions. Theyve been like that forever. I can still talk to them and they give me side missions but the main quest for them is never continued.

That isn't the quest I was thinking of but I think I know what's happening. This quest doesn't start off like the others did. On this quest, no one tells you where to go or what to do. You just do it AFTER going outside and talking to the ones out there again. When those yell "Make them pay", the quest starts right there.

If I remember right, they don't "exactly" give you a quest or mission. They just tell you the Silvehand must pay for this (or some thing like that) and no one says any thing about you doing anything or about going any place with you. But after talking to those inside, just go back outside and talk to the Companions out front again and they should just say, "make them pay".

THAT starts your new quest (mission) and I think it's Farkas that follows you automatically.
Check your journal and it should say something about the Silverhand. Make sure it's checked, go to the location on the map and wipe them all out.

I got a little confused there and almost missed that quest because I was waiting for some time for them to tell me where to go or what to do like they always did but they didn't.
I just went outside, the Companions out there just shouted "make them pay" so I just checked and found something new about the Silverhand in my journal, selected it, checked my map, found a marked location then took off for it. A short way from the city I turned to check my follower and it was Farkas.

We got to the marked location, wiped them out , recovered the fragments then returned to Jorrovaskr and the quest was over.
