So yeah, I'm doing the Stormcloak quest before the main quest, or at least before Season Unending would pop up. So I'm reading the wikia to find out what I need to do. I'm okay until I discover exactly where that underwater backdoor into the fort is. Now here's my problem. I can't see undewater!

Maybe it's a bug. But I can only see underwater when I'm near the surface. Soon as I plunge in, all is gray and I can't see what I'm doing! So I'll run out of air and die long before getting to the entrance. What do I do?? Can I just attack the fort and complete the quest that way?

Are you on PS3? (I remember hearing about a water related bug on PS3. But probably not related.)

What happens if you go all the way down to the bottom? Can you see anything on the bottom?

I'm on the PC and if I got to the bottom I'd never know it, because all I can see is gray!

I usually play in third person. I'm wondering if trying to swim in first person will help me see what I'm doing. I love Skyrim but hate swimming in it! Getting to that island where the Ice Wraith was took me several reloads...

Thats really bizarre. You can go in the front gates though, its fine.

Make sure you have the latest drivers for your graphics card....

i think it might be the underwater bug 1.5.24 brought in.
Update to 1.5.26, or if you are 1.5.26 already, check if u you use any ENB mods. Because ENB(e.g. sharpshooter enb) makes u unable to see underwater, there is a Greenwater fix on the nexus.

If it's a tight space, playing in 3rd Person might be skewing your view. I attacked through the gate, so I don't know what the tunnel is like.

I tried first person, didn't work, went through the gates instead. Took me a whiiiiiile to find the prison.....

Cast candlelight on yourself before you submerge, it should last long enough to go through the tunnel. I am pretty sure there are no threats immediately in the room where you surface.
