Forum Structure

So, I wonder why there are no categorised forums whatsoever?

Wouldn't it be easier and clearer to navigate through and discuss in structured subforums, than one general mish-mash blob?

Something like the following would help a lot, I think:

  • BRINK General Discussion
    • Faction Discussion
      • Security
      • Resistance

    • Classes Discussion
      • Soldier
      • Medic
      • Engineer
      • Operative

    • Clan Base
      • Security
      • Resistance

Maybe since that the game isint out yet so there wont be enything to talk about. Still that would be a very cool idea and MIGHT come out.

Most new people are "in an awful hurry" and usually just pick the top board

there are 2 "official" forums for BRINK

www.gamesas.com, and www.splashdamage.com,
both forums are almost same. I think, they will create new forums for us later. I think this forum, and splashdamage forum are temporary. And if not, why there are 2! forums?

Yeah, two forums don't seem all too reasonable to me either, but I guess SplashDamage had theirs and Bethesda simply created one as well, to show they have the game in their portfolio.

And I guess even without loads of hard facts, subforums do make sense, because people who "are not in a hurry" do prefer to find threads about a certain topic in a certain forums rather than through the search.

It would prolly be best just to PM this to a mod.

Splashdamage's forum, or users, are more oriented on brink, Also, developers often post there.

i suppose it's one big one since the game hasn't come out yet, and most of everything said is speculation, fan-oriented stuff, or people trying to get the devs to do what they want.
when it comes out and it's facts rolling in, they'll be dividing the forums(i guess)

The game is nowhere near yet so don't expect any new forums for the immediate future.

If and when it is decided there will be any new ones you can look at the other game forums layout to give you an idea what it is likely to be set out as.

Is it really that confusing? There's a new thread only like every few hours. Less is more. Have you ever seen smaller forums with less than 100 members yet 20-30 sub topics all with 1-2 threads each? It doesn't make much sense. Sure it's "organized" but there isn't really a need if it's not really planning to grow rapidly.

Can we at least add a...
"Whining about Things that the Developers have Repeatedly Confirmed will not be in The Game"
...section?

The forums will be split into subsections near or at release. I'm not sure it will be in the format suggested by the OP, but there will be several sections for the game.

Thanks for the info.

Do you know if there will still be two forums, or only one at release?

If we follow the way the other game forums went, the new forums will be opened just shortly before game release. We don't know what sub forums will be available as nothing has been discussed, most likely General, Cheats Hints and Spoilers, Hardware and Software plus possibly other(s).

That's not what I meant. ;)

At current, there is the publisher's forum (this one), and the developer's (http://www.splashdamage.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=17). I wonder, if both will continue to exist after release. I guess it would probably lead to a split of the community into a general (this) and a more elitist (that) one.

And better not create a "Cheats" subforum for an online game. :P

The Splash Damage forum will always exist, it's more dedicated to mappers and modders for PC, the Bethesda forums are better suited to console players to discuss gameplay and performance issues
