Forum themes

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 2:36 am

This thread is essentially a continuation of http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1081772-forum-style-alterations/ which was created back in early 2010 when the forums were updated and all the old themes were removed.

Install Guides (Stolen from the previous thread)

Google Chome Install Guide
- Download the https://chrome.google.com/extensions/detail/fjnbnpbmkenffdnngjfgmeleoegfcffe?hl=en-gb
- Press the Spanner Icon (Top right) and Press Extensions
- Press the Options button for Stylish
- Press "Add New Style"
- Write a name in the name box (anything you want)
- Copy the CSS scripts that you want into the large text box marked "code"
- Check "Enabled"
- In the "Applies to" drop down, select "URLs Starting With" and in the text box put "http://www.gamesas.com/" (Without the quotes)
- Press Save

Firefox Install Guide
- Install https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2108
- Click on the new icon bottom right
- Ensure you are on the forums
- Press Write New Style, then For www.gamesas.com
- It should open a dialog box
- Put any name you want in the "name" box
- Paste the CSS scripts that you want between the braces. e.g.:
@namespace url(http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml);@-moz-document domain("www.gamesas.com") {  /* paste code in this bit */}

- Press Save

Opera Installation Guide (By DEFRON)
-Save CSS somewhere
-right-click the forum website
-Edit Site Preferences
-Display
-Using the Choose Dialoge, locate the CSS file
-Open it, ok out

Known incompatibility with themes not specific for Opera: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1081516-forum-style-alterations/page__view__findpost__p__15754843

Internet Explorer (By DEFRON)
IE does have a very limited support for user CSS, but it will be quite a pain

http://webdesign.about.com/od/css/ht/htcssuseriewin.htm

As far as I know there is no way to set it on a per site basis, so you may end up with it messing up some other sites. It is best just to use Chrome, Firefox or Opera.

Most of the themes in that old thread are unfortunately outdated by now so I won't be adding them to this post unless someone updates them. So here are a few themes that work:

Note: You should really use the chrome extension if you can because it has more features than the stylesheet and it auto-updates..

Exo's BSF Theme
by Exorince
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5459839/Chrome%20Extensions/BSF%20Tweaks/ExosBSFTweaks.crx (Chrome Extension)
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5459839/Chrome%20Extensions/BSF%20Tweaks/style.css (For Stylish)

Based on DarN's theme
The Community Discussion link and the hidden pinned topics are just in the chrome extension, not the stylesheet.
The screenshots have visible seams in the background but those aren't there when you use this theme.

Tan Theme
Original by Qazaaq, updated by Exorince

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5459839/Chrome%20Extensions/BSF%20Tan%20Theme/style.css (For Stylish)

Tan theme. I've forgotten how the old tan theme looks so if you see something that looks out of place then just let me know and I'll fix it. :)
Again, the hidden pinned topics and CD link on the main page are just a part of the chrome extension.

I have a version of the tan theme that works on IP Board. You should be able to easily create new themes for IP Board because it's relatively simple to modify.

I've been using the green theme that Max created a while back, and have grown accustomed to it. It would be really nice to see the gray skin return though, I always loved that one.

Looks great, thanks for posting this. I have been missing the tan theme as well as DarNs version for several months now.
