found a way to legally level speech.

we all know about the rifton glitch where you can convince the same guy over and over without doing anything between.
this was not ok to me since it clearly seems a bit abnormal that you could repeat it without doing something between it.

today i discoverd a better way which seems more logical and less "glitchy" to me because you have to do something to get convince option again.

its really simple. BUT it only works with a certain level in speech already. dont know for sure but i had 76 speech wen i started this. used trainers until 76.

go to a bit city with many guards. now simply pickpocket around carlessly until you get caught by the guards. when the guard engages dialog you will have the option to convince him to forget about it. if your speech skill is high enough this will work.

HOWEVER : your BOUNTY will remain. now if you go and talk to ANOTHER guard he will recognize you as a thief and demanding jugdement from you aka going to jail or paying the bounty. BUT : you can also convince him to forget about it. this will only work ONCE per guard. after you have talked to all guards and convinced them pay your bounty.

now simply go and repeat what you have done : steal something and get caught. you can convince every guard in town again. but again only ONCE per guard.

this seems like a intended mechanic to level speech. even at lvl 80+ in speech you will get one skillup every 5-6 convinces.

this is only meant for the players who want to level LEGALLY to 81 without using glitches or cheats.

you could you know, just go between the towns, buy all the ingredients from alchemy shops, make potions and sell them back the potions... by speech level 60 you'll pretty much be making profits from it.

Pfft, if it was legal then the guards wouldn't be trying to arrest you. ;)

believe me i know this. my way is WAY faster for speech than this. this is a good method of getting speech up to 50+ tough. but after 80 forget about this. would take you ages.

Sounds like you're just making the exploit slower to ease your conscience :)

The only legal way to level speech is to level it the way the devs intended it to be. Everything else, IMO, is just an exploit.

Well.... talking about "exploits" if one is playing the solo SPMR (single-player machine-resident) game is pretty silly. If someone wants to cheat in a non-multiplayer game, what on earth is the difference to anyone here?

Not complaining about people using exploits, but saying it's 'legal' just because it's a bit slower than the other accepted explot is a bit misleading :P

Well, yes.... I wasn't pointing my comment at you though. Because you didn't specifically carp on "legal"....

Ah, my mistake then. I thought the comment was aimed at my use of the word exploit :)

*shrug* Yes, but you didn't go so far as to say it wasn't "legal". Really, anything one chooses to do on one's own machine (in a solo game) should never be called either an "exploit" or "illegal" - especially since there are mods which accomplish the same things (not sure about the speech thing, but for more gold at vendors for instance) - and Beth has never carped about mods or what people do in their own solo game playstyles.

Sure, when it's multiplayer there's a major difference. Since the OP didn't really say it was MP, I assumed (bad idea I know....) that OP's game was solo....

Just pay a damned trainer. Making money is trivial in this game.
