Found workaround to Come Fly With Me quest bug (spoiler)

"After completing the quest without convincing Chris Haversam of his humanity, he may simply say "Not now, its almost time for the Great Journey." over and over again without acknowledging the fact that they've already left without him. This can happen even if you convince him of his humanity through speech checks. If this happens, he will remain in the control room indefinitely rather than moving to Novac. In order to avoid this bug, make sure to first convince Haversam that he is human (make sure thats the first dialogue you make with him), and then its safe to start his quests (gather thruster and then the green substance). "

For me I used the Black Widow dialogues but persuaded him not to rig the rockets. After giving all the items to him he kept waiting there instead of moving to Novac. Simply run to ladders and get out before Jason Bright starts his speech and return back. You will hear him continue his speech (normally he doesn't continue after his first sentence if you wait there) and Chris Haversam will move to Novac.

Well, when Bright started his speech, the 'move to viewing platform' quest instruction came up, so I did. I got lost a couple of times, and finally got there, but no one else was there. So I waited a bit, and no one turned up, and then I saw the launch button. I tried to check the pipboy, but it was glowing a weird greeny-yellow iradescent colour, and I couldn't read it...so, with glitches happening, I thought this must be the thing, so I hit the launch button.

Off go the rockets, sound of music, EDE starts ride of the valkyrie, game goes all stuttery, and I missed most of the launch because the quest reward levelled me up and I went through the level up routine..."Great..." I think, that's one game highlight that has been ****ed up on me...so off I wander towards Novac. After a while, I thought I might head back to see what happened to Haversham...

There he is, back in the control room...so up I go and interact, and he then starts on the pre-launch talk business...so I convince him he's a useful guy etc and he's a Saint, and sure, perhaps it was a bit underhanded, but he did a good thing, etc....and he says (paraphrased) "I'm off to Novac, you can do the launch..." Uh oh........
