Free MMOS

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 9:55 am

Does anyone here play any of the following free to play MMORPG's: Everquest II, DC Universe Online or Lord of the Rings Online? How are they? I've played WoW on and off for 4 years but I always get distracted and end up playing like 5 hours a month so I cancel my account rather than continue paying. I've always loved WoW but I just don't have the time to put into it (in the 4 years I've played I'm only level 80..I have Cataclysm but never got into the content).

I'm downloading DC online right now and will be downloading LOTR and Everquest as well but just want some advice. I'm not sure if I'll get into any of them but it svcks starting over as a weak noob.

I play LOTRO occasionally. My favorite MMO. Each class is unique and rewarding. Starts to get boring around level 50 for me, but that's a pretty long time considering WoW bores me by 20.

LOTRO is good. Age of Conan is now free and Pirates of Burning Sea.

I've been playing Everquest II off and on for several years, I played quite a bit back when it wasn't F2P. I played the F2P version for a bit last year, and it was quite good, but got bored playing by myself. I've also been playing LOTRO off and on since the beta, and I can't say I really like it all that much. It feels a lot more casual than the typical MMOs I usually play, and it just never really grabbed me for some reason (even though I'm a huge LotR fan). I've always felt that Everquest has a great balance, and lots of classes and races to pick from.

Really sad to see these MMOs go F2p however they are just turning into trash so they need everything they can get. I played EQ2 back during the original days and it was really fun to play however it has just gone down hill due to SoE's miss management by that smedly guy. There was a post on the forums way back where he said point blank "We won't do micro-transactions" then 3 months later they introduced the ingame station store selling experience potions and such. Really lost faith in the game there and with The Shadow Odyssey I just decided it was time to leave the game.

Would pass on EQ2 since it's going down hill however that's the only game I can really talk about since I haven't played DC or LOTRO stuff.

I've played LOTRonline and DCU. I liked LOTR but my laptop wont run it and I got rid of my PC. I have tried to play DCU but it really feels more like a brand name version of City of Heroes to me, I wish FFXI was free to play and could run on my laptop now that SWG is going offline.

I play Dragon Ball Online, Taiwanese version. I've tried Rappelz a few years ago, but what a waste of time that was. (and so is DBO too)

Runescape is Finger Cramps Online. Also mind-numbingly dull if you want to get anything productive done (but midly entertaining if you just goof off). Unless it's changed significantly this past year.

Don't get me started on the community. I've met some good people who play that game, but they're diamonds in the angsty rough.
