"Free prisoner and share items"

We should have the choice of setting this person as a follower, and also be able to dress them.

Oh and why does he tend to run off with his hands tied when i've slain his captors?

And why doesn't he thank you and equip the weapons you give him. I just killed three imperial [censored] bags for you, and then you run off and get killed by a bear. Clown.

They run off because they are smart. If I was a prisoner and someone started killing my captors, I would not wait around for introductions. I don't know their intentions.

As for giving them things, they don't seem to use it, nor do they thank me for it, nor do I get a boost from the game, like when you give a coin to a beggar. So, now I just release them when I can and leave them to their fate. Freedom is enough of a gift.

Guard, guard! Some fool adventurer just saved me from torture and death at the hands of the Thalmor, after giving me a glass sword and a real ebony shield. Just thought I'd register my gratitude by informing you, so you can thank her for me with a lovely heart-warming bounty of 40 gold.

Well you get a speechcraft +10 bonus for 1 hour(?) if you give a coin to a beggar. I always do that before heading to a shop.

er, did I read that wrong and you did know you got a bonus? meh..

it sure would be cool if there was a karma system where you got disposition increases for doing stuff like that.

Yes, something like that needs to be done. Maybe a health boost of 10% for a day or something. Not huge, but something.

Silly people, you're supposed to kill ALL the witnesses. Kill the captor first then his silly guards.

I really want them to equip what you give them right away, or else it's gonna be kind of a useless feature. I hate giving someone a quality weapon only for them to fight with their fists.

I always free the prisoners. Unfortunately, they usually die during the resulting encounter, as they stay to fight, rather than run for freedom.

I just hate that if I accidentally kill the prisoner by friendly fire, I get a bounty.

It seems that I free prisoners at the worst times...

-one time, I freed him near a mage dungeon... he didn't stand a chance
-another time, a dragon appeared when I finished killing the captors
-some wolves attacked
-a Boethiah Cultist attacked

You get the point. They can rot in a dungeon for all I care, they've brought me nothing but trouble.

I didn't know about the "friendly fire" thing - disturbing. Although I too generally end up with the prisoner dead anyway in the melee that follows my intervention. Oh well, it's the thought that counts.

Spoiler
I assume my habit of biffing these patrols is what has lead the Thalmor to put a contract out on me? That was a startling moment - I saw a patrol, and was just lining up my attack when they suddenly charged at me en masse. I found the note on the leader's body afterwards telling me that I am now marked to sleep with the fishes. How rude.

The thing that gets me about freeing prisoners is the fine you incur if they are spotted by guards even if that hold is controlled by the same faction. If you free a Stormcloak prisoner Stormcloak guards shouldn't fine you for it.

Yes, I wish that the prisoner would make a run for it once freed, and not try to fight armed guards barehanded. Anyway, I can never resist the chance to kill some Imperials or Thalmor. If the prisoner lives, than that's just an added bonus.

I only rescue prisoners from Thalmor since they're political, not woar prisoners. It's much easier to rescue from them as you can just talk to them and they decide they don't like your face and attack. The prisoner usually hangs out of the way rather than attacking with his supposedly bound hands, just make sure to click on him after the fight.

Yeah, I don't bother giving these prisoners anything anymore cause they don't use the stuff you give them. Would be nice if these guys would act more like followers or at least use the stuff you give them.
