Free Trial Event for DLC Launch? (suggestion)

While I'm quite eager to get my hands on the upcomming DLC, I'm also worried that it won't be able to do much for the dwindling community. People that left the game or put it on ice may come back for another look (assuming they hear about the new DLC within the 2 weeks free window), but those that never picked it up due to the bad press aren't likely to do so just because of the DLC. So at best we can hope to bring the comunity closer to its peak, but not much chance for the much-needed expansion...

If Bethesda and SD want to give this game another chance, they need to bring the spotlight back on it. Assuming the update coming with the DLC does address the issues they say it will (obviously a must-have prerequisite for this suggestion...), wouldn't it be a good time for a free trial event? I'm not sure how feasible that is on consoles without putting together an actual demo package, but I've seen it several time on Steam for PC games, typically with free weekends where the game is available for anyone to upload and play. On PC this shouldn't requires a lot of effort, at least not on the technical side, since there is no demo version to worry about: the game is unlocked for the duration of the event and locked back for those that don't have a purchased version afterwards. I'm pretty sure Steam is geared up to make this a no-brainer.

To hype things up a bit more, they could throw in a limited-time sale at the same time, so those that try it out and like it would be encourage to do the impulse buy thing. ;)

A free trial might help, though I don't see them making a full version downloadable on consoles. With the small amount of content in the dlc and with it now only being free for two weeks they really do need something else to bring in new players and build up the community. I know they're trying to recoup some of their losses by adding the price to the dlc but they are not going to profit much in the long run and it could very well be the final nail in the coffin sealing Brink's fate.

it's already selling for 39.99 now and i dun think this is wat they had in mind for it's hyped AAA release. i mean the tv ad looked epic and i'm pretty sure the advertising cost was equally epic. with word of mouth on Brink being less than favorable right now, I'm guessing only a price drop to 29.99 will have any impact on new sales but we know dats not going to happen.

a limited time-sale like what happens on Steam sounds too early (although I might be wrong if you want to quote any recent titles dat had massive price drops within weeks of its release) at this point.

Like i was saying in another thread, they need to come out with the next, real, DLC dat fulfills (or at least tries to fulfill) all of those earlier promises. I have grown out of my single player is OSSOM! phase thanks to the numbing experience dat is waiting for episode 3 to come out. but there are lot of folks who are still waiting to see the story and no SD, expecting us to listen to fifty million audio logs is not going to cut it.

but then again, to properly tell a story with real cutscenes and stuff, how big wud the DLC have to be? Or is it going to be, we're stopping at one more Agents of Change like DLC in the future and then bye, bye Brink? yikes.
