Friendly Sabrecat

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 7:12 pm

So just had to share this. Today I had some free time so decided to sit down and play a bit. ( In an effort to not spoil for anyone I won't give many details.) I was in a hideout, quite impressive really and I come into an area with many cages. Locked inside one there is a sabrecat just sitting there, not acting ferocious or anything. I continue a little further and need to deal with a couple bandits.

So then I turn around and start heading back to where the cages are and wth?! The sabrecat is now out of the cage! Okay, fine I'll kill the... he's not attacking me. So upon examining further I see his cage is still shut and locked. So I quickly save and unlock the cage. ROAR!! He's pissed now! So obviously his AI was set as if he was still in the cage, though he was walking around everywhere. So I reloaded and left it as is. Now I have a nice friendly sabrecat in a hideout. :)

I've had a few other encounters like this were an NPC acts as if being in a different situation than it currently is in.

I've had that cat do the same.... also pit wolves in cages in one of the quest caverns.... if they're "out" but the cages are locked, it's as if the AI hasn't a clue what's supposed to be happening....

Yeah I had a friendly wolf or two, from cages. Sometimes I meet a bandit or necromancer who isn't hostile; I just chalk it all up as "glitchy Skyrim stuff that updates won't fix."

That's got to be a glitch. I had a similar situation with Pumpkin. :P

It's much more fun sneaking in and unlock the cage and let the sabre kitty kill the bandits for you.

I never found any friendly saber cats, but I did find a friendly skeleton that was just standing by an alter. I named him Grimmy, and me, him, and Lydia became fast friends! We where gonna travel the world solving mysteries and learning lessons about friendship. But a dragon came by and killed him. Every time I'm near the area I leave some ale at the alter in memory of Grimmy.

I had posted in the PC forum about some draugr I ran into on the road in case it was part of the Unusual Enemy Spawn situation but now it sounds more like your type of situation. This is what happened.

We were walking to Markarth from Solitude when we came across some draugr walking on the road. They weren't hostile and when mousing over them, nothing appeared. One went a different way, two crossed a river and they all ended up walking together again.

I had a fox attack me the other day too. I love the AI though...never know what will happen. :tes:

 It must be a texture bug. Like the hostile foxes were actually supposed to be wolf textures?

Let all characters befriend you, then kill them all, one by one. There is only one king of Skyrim and that will be me.

They will all die.

Come to think of it, I came across some friendly Forsworn one day as well. There was a Vigilant of Stendar standing over a dead bear or something.. (can't remember now) and across the road about 3 or 4 Forsworn just hanging out. I walked up to them and they all gave me the generic dialogue, "Need something?" etc.

Theirs a http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=5866 where wolves and werewolves becomes none hostile towards you, even if you aren't in werewolf form. In fact if theirs a nearby enemy they come to your defense. It's rather sweet, if you are a werewolf of course.

I know where you're talking about, and I had no idea the sabre was even there and I turned around after slaughtering the bandits in the room and got the [censored] scared out of me when I saw that thing. Quickly strung an arrow and stopped myself right before I realized it was friendly.

Ha! This. I was walking towards a shack (not sure which one) and a deer and skeever attacked me at the same time. Skeevers are hostile but the deer? Sure enough, after I killed them I was attacked by the spriggan. The animals seemed to have a green aura.

I freed a wolf from a cage in the middle of the woods once and it didn't attack. It just looked at me and went on it's way.

That's the sure sign that a spriggan is behind them. Even so, I had a fox attack me once on a road near Riften, and it was just an ordinary fox. I've had two deer attack me at once in the wide open spaces west of Whiterun. I've never, ever heard of a spriggan speaking. I've freed a hagraven from a cage at her request, but that was part of a quest trigger. I did see a pair of spriggans in the snow fields west of Winterhold. That was astounding... not a tree in sight. BTW, have you noticed that a dead spriggan is dull in daylight, but glows in the dark?
