From crashing on start up, to this:

Roommate bought brink same time as I did. However, his computer uses an ATI Radeon 4xxx series. Before todays patch his game would just immediately crash on start up.

Well apparently the patch managed to make it so that the game will tell him what happened. Like this:

Soooooo.... What can be done? Is he still going to have to wait for yet another patch? Or is there something he can do about this?

You're not alone Mantis. Countless others can't even play the game due to it not even starting up. from what I am realizing after reading and trying so many different things is that the minimum system requirements for this game are nowhere near what they should be. Apparently you need a very high end video card and probably quad core cpu just to run the game.

I've been in contact on the phone with Bethesda at least a dozen times. They have had me try so many things, my head is spinning. As of now they have admitted that they do not have a solution.

The really bad part? If you bought the game through steam, you cannot get a refund. Steam does not provide refunds for games through their download. If that isn't the worst type of way to run an online business as a software retailer, I don't know what is. So, like me and countless others, you are stuck with a non-working 50 dollar empty shell of a game. And you are 50 dollars poorer for your efforts.

Yes video=graphics. If you run an ATI video card, try updating your drivers.

Well lets see. I have ATI MOBILITY 4650 HD, and apparently it does not support OpenGL 3.1, so what do I do now? And there is no driver update whatsoever.

Anybody?

Any possible way to boot my OpenGL from 3.0 to 3.1?

Or I just have to return teh game?

There's hope. I've received refunds from Steam before for games I've purchased in the past. Just tell them its faulty advertising (which it is - the steam store page says an HD 2900 can run the game, which it can't) and you should be golden.

Actually, returning your game for Steam credit, http://i.imgur.com/6LjPy.png

Also, my roommate updated to 11.5, rolled back to 11.3, and then reupdated to 11.5 and installed the hotfix. No changes.

Check this out, there is this 3rd party mod that MAY help with anyone with the mobility graphic card issue.
We all realize that ATI does not support some of the Mobility Graphic card for notebooks for whatever reason.

Here is a possible solution I am currently working on :

http://www.hardwareheaven.com/modtool.php

Go to the website and download the thing and see if it works for you.
It basically mods the 11.X whatever version into notebook version, and hopefully it will work.

If it works please post solution. .
