From PS3 to PC question about corrupted database

Post » Tue May 29, 2012 5:41 am

I purchased Skyrim for my ps3. I estimate 90% of the time I tried to use it my database would report having corrupted files. As a work around I booted my ps3 in safe mode and rebuilt the database after each session of Skyrim.

This process along with the constant system locks ups made me decide to switch to the pc version.

From the research I have done this problem doesn't seem to be nearly as pervasive on the pc, but should it happen is there a tool available to rebuild the Skyrim database. I would assume the steam function to validate my Skyrim file would do the trick but I'm not really pc or ps3 savvy. Any feedback would be appreciated.

In your games library, right click the game title and select 'properties'. Under the 'local files' tab, click 'verify integrity of game cache'. For whatever reason, Steam always tells me I have one corrupt file. This would seem to be skyrim.ini as repairing the installation results in my needing to reapply certain settings. I believe it is a non issue. Otherwise, I've never read anything like what you are describing for the PC version.

Thanks for the answer.

It just finished downloading it and wow this game looks absolutely amazing. I'm almost speechless can't even believe its the same game.
Even on my dated pc Core 2 Duo E7400 2.8Ghz and GeForce 9800 GTX+ 512Mb.

I bought it for ps3 because I wanted to play it on my big screen and sit in my recliner but that turned out to be a total waste of $60.

Some of us do the "big screen & recliner" experience with the PC version too...! Just get yourself a wireless controller, the 360 one works well and is one I use.

I play on PS3 and I also have a similar PC setup; q8400 quad 2.66ghz , 4GB RAM, 9800GT 512mb. Unfortunately the PC is the family computer and I rarely get access to it. The PS3 version is such a joke I haven't been able to play it for nearly two months now. They are slowly turning from one of my favourite devs to one of my most hated.
