Hello Descent 3 experts:

I started having visual problems in Descent 3, as far as I can remember a few years back, when I switched to my wide screen monitor. For example, when I am going through the menus there is a lot of "stuff like graphics of other stuff in the game" over it making it hard to read, and when I play the game I see the "aimer" for shooting at things, there is always a graphic of something there like a graphic image of one of the types of bombs. Also sometimes smoke/stead looks like big black blocks, and the energy starts and blue balls are "dripping pixels" as they float in the air.

I did a "print-screen" and pasted into Microsoft word and tried to upload so others could see it but got a message: "The extension doc is not allowed"

The functionality of the game seems to be intact but, its annoying.


Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try using Paint rather than Microsoft Word and save as a Jpg. Or create a video and post a link to it here -- which might be better to help up visualize what you're talking about.

It sounds like some pretty bizzare problems so you're right, being able to see it ourselves would be a huge help. Most memorable taunt macros:

Use fraps let it save the screenshot as .BMP or .png, use IrFanView to convert or save as .jpeg, without losing much image quality

Mike, could you please list your system specs.. that is to say, what hardware is in your computer? Also, please the list the settings you are using in D3.; list both the settings from the configuration from the launch menu and the settings you have in the game. (keyboard strokes aren't necessary. )
oh btw, the "aimer" is called a recital.
