Fus Ro Dah - a bit cheesy?

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 12:17 am

I mean come on now...I know Bethesda is aiming at the younger generation, but this wasn't necessary. They could've chose a different mechanism. What do you guys think?

Elaboration (as per request):

To me it feels that Skyrim is the Call of Duty of the RPG genre: It aims at younger kids, since most of video-game sales come from them. There is nothing wrong with this practice, since Bethesda is a company and needs to make as much money for their stockholders -- it is a legal and ethical obligation. However, I feel like certain elements could have been tailored a bit more toward the advlts that still play games.

Please put more thought into the post. Nobody is sure what you are trying to say.

I think they should have skipped the dragon storyline entirely. Focusing on and fleshing out the civil war questline, making that the main quest, would have been much more interesting. Politics and intrigue, not corny armageddon stuff.

Shouting in dragon tongue makes the game like Call of Duty?

What age is a 'younger kid'?

The game is part of the fantasy genre. This means it might have some corny, cliche, over-used and maybe even cringeworthy aspects. For me TES does it very well, so often we do get fantasy games that take these aspects too far but I think TES holds onto the fantasy genre whilst managing to avoid the childish air that often comes with it. This way both advlts and children can play it, and enjoy it.

I'm personally 19 on Saturday, and I find no aspect of the game childish. Not even the Dragon shouts. Which although to some maybe a little corny, only add to the game, and if you don't like them, then don't use them.

I thought the sermons the bloke in charge of the storm cloaks(name escapes me)gives when he's stood on his little soap box in his smeggy little palace were extremely "cheesy", so much so in-fact that was how I found out he was tagged as essential, because I tried to kill him, as you do. Can't stand racists which is fundamentally what they are. Wankers.

You don't necessarily have to take the swords out, since you can balance daggers with guns. However, all swords removed would make the game a bit more mature, but could also be less balance in terms of weapons.

As far as I can see, Bethesda Game Studios, Bethesda Softworks, and Zenimax, Inc offer no stock and have no stockholders.
