Future DLC: Giants

Post » Sat Jun 16, 2012 1:32 am

I hope they release DLC in the future that focuses on Giants and their history/culture. It would be cool if they gave them a voice and I feel like they barely went in-depth into the character of the Giants and I feel like they could have an interesting story.

What do you think?

That would be good. It would really fit the Norse-derived nature of Skyrim, too.

Fair enough, provided we get one focusing on the culture of sabre cats. They barely scratched the surface of these majestic creatures.

Yeah, it's not really something that interests me.

To have an entire dlc based off one annoying over powered enemy with no real interesting back stories?
No not really into it

That's all right, I forgive you. Anybody that has an avatar from Arkham City just has to be a good person at heart ;)

I would like to see *something* done with the giants. Maybe not necessarily an entire DLC focusing on them, but a couple of quests, sure.

Not sure giants have much of a culture. I think they are just wandering nomads of sorts.

The point of the DLC would be giving them more of a personality and more of a story. By giving them a voice, maybe their own city on the otherside of the mountains e.g. place we haven't been yet.

Ha

In all seriousness, I do actually roleplay as a friend of the giants. I sleep at their camps, make offerings of meat and pelts for mammoth cheese, and try to avoid killing them whenever possible.

I wouldn't mind a subplot in a DLC that has to do with the giants, their culture, and being able to actually become friends with them. They could have a wandering giant that speaks common tongue (like Uncle Leo in Fallout 3) or anything like that to add to them, but I doubt it could carry a 10-20 hour storyline. But a few missions here and there relating to the giants and sorta acting like an emissary/ambassador? Yeah, I'm down with that.

you walk up to the city as you hear giants speak for the first time only for them to immediately get pissed off by your presence and send you into orbit. Giants never seemed to like others too much so even if they had a city they most likely would not allow outsiders in.

They seem like more of a side quest on a dlc, rather than one based off them

Eh...no thanks. I think there are much more viable options, like the Dwemer, that already have some background to support a DLC.

An entire DLC; no. They've never been a great race in history. I would like a town though with some quests and speech. They'd still attack you if angered, but they'd be more like the passive ones you occasionally find where you can travel with them. (I found two friendly giants and a mammoth traveling, I went with them. It was actually quite fun, as any enemy that attacked me the giants would go straight for them.)

Sometimes it's just a matter of finding the part of the camp they don't visit that much, but other times they completely ignore me. I don't really know what's the determining factor of their hostility.

Yeah, randomly some giants ignore me. If they don't give you the back off stance, they'll only attack if attacked (or an enemy to you appears, which then they'll attack the enemy). They're somewhat rare, as I've only found two.

Those are the females. The real question is: Where are the male giants?

lol

Tolkien said that female dwarves were often bearded and that only Dwarves themselves could reliably tell the difference between Dwarf-men and Dwarf-women. Perhaps the same applies to Skyrim's giants...
