FXAA vs normal AA AF

Post » Wed Jul 11, 2012 1:49 am

When i enabled FXAA it looks like my AF filter effects is at very low, the textures are very blurry just 1m infront of me and out.
Is there an plugin / mod or something that get FXAA realy working in the game ?

That IS FXAA "really working."

If you really can't stand the blurring (I actually kind of like it), use http://mrhaandi.blogspot.com/p/injectsmaa.html instead.

FXAA and SMAA are both technically inferior to MSAA but are better performance-wise.

I think SMAA looks slightly better than FXAA, BUT it distorts GUI text slightly (nothing egregious, it really is very slight).

I think I've been spoilt - I can't stand any less than SSAA. Tried going back to MSAA and my eyes hurt in comparison.

if i could i would use MSAA but I use RCRN along with an ENB so i cant at them moment. I run FXAA along with X16 AF looks good but would rather MSAA

FXAA is the best of them all i thought ? i use RCRN myself. Guess we are stuck to AA and AF without it looking to blurry.

Best of them all? not really, but it does take less resources.

Its a performance versus quality trade off. FXAA < SMAA < MSAA

But it can also be a matter of taste, some people enjoy the blurry effect of FXAA.

I prefer SMAA, its not as demanding as MSAA, and 8x SMAA is almost as good as 8x MSAA in my opinion.

However SMAA also requires a mod install approach, so its a bit more technical.

lol typo... i meant SMAA which uses another d3d9 file, but RCRN uses that proxy slot on my ENB.
