Game Breaking Bugs! (Might Be New!)

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 4:58 pm

Posted this in the bugs thread, wanted to see if anyone else has experienced either of these:

1. THEY WENT THAT-A-WAY

Upon continuing my quest to Boulder City, I found that the Great Khans would not attack me AT ALL. I had to attack first.

2. NCR SHERIFF QUEST

After recruiting one of the sheriffs, I went to the Mojave Outpost to have the NCR forgive him for his problems. All of the NCR attacked me, causing me to also fail the Cold, Cold Heart quest.

So, anyone else?? Are these common or isolated?

You will find many an occasion where violence is not the only option, this is not a bug. Re-load your save and talk to the named NPC within the building and you will, depending upon your Speech skill, be given a non violent option to handle the situation.

You are probably wearing the Powder Ganger faction armor, unequip it and they will not attack you.

Re: #2.

I was wearing a Bright Follower Robe, definitely no powder ganger clothing. I'm not sure what else to do, they all keep attacking me! Do you have any other ideas why they might attack me? Thanks!

Well there is a number of reasons why a faction will attack you:

1. Open hostilities towards that faction. I.E Attacking them first.

2. Ending dialogue with that will lead to them attacking you. I.E " You're all going to die!"

3. Stealing from them and getting caught in the act.

4. Aiding an opposing faction in attacking another, this is also included in quests such as "I Fought the Law", the last part of this quest you alert Eddie, the faction leader of the Power Gangers, that the NCR is planning an attack, right after you do so they break in through the fence and the NCR are hostile to you and the rest of the Power Ganger as they attempt to relinquish the Correctional Facility from the Power Gangers. Did you do this quest?

5. Your reputation with the Faction, if you are "Shunned" or "Vilified" they will attack you on sight. To see your current faction reputation open up to Pip-Boy, go to "Stats" and tab over to General and scroll down through the Factions, for example as of right now I'm "Liked" by the NCR and "Vilified" by the Powder Gangers, meaning the Power Gangers will attack me on sight.

Also, in most cases when a faction is attacking you, there is not much you can do to stop them other then loading an old save.

Another day, some more knowledge. I assume you got this robe off the dead ghoul near Sloan under the highway road? If you look at the robe it says "Bright Brotherhood robe", now it doesn't say that you have Faction Armor on when you equip it but nonetheless, it seems any Armor with a faction name on it will count as faction armor, there is your problem. :D

The Brotherhood, more commonly known as the Brotherhood of Steel is another Faction in the game, who are opposed to the NCR. And so they will attack you when wearing the Brotherhood of Steel armor or clothing.

Yup, just as I thought: they attack me regardless of what I wear! My status with them is neutral, yet they will always attack me. It keeps saying I have failed the "Cold Cold Heart" mission. Bah, [censored] Obsidian and their lack of beta testing.
