Game-breaking menu bug + map bug

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 10:46 am

This just started the last time I played the game. No new mods, no nothing.

Whenever I try to read a book/note or apply a poison, all controls become unresponsive. I'm stuck at the "apply: yes or no" menu screen, and need to ctl-atl-del to get out. As well, whenever I click on the map it closes (I no longer get the option to set a marker: it just goes *poof* and closes the map menu ). This has essentially rendered the game unplayable and broken. What a piece of garbage.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

I have this same problem. I've been searching everywhere for a fix. It happens also when you are asked to confirm an action (such as when crafting an item or releasing a Stormcloak prisoner). I hope a fix is found.

Try "verify files" with steam.

Back when the 1.2 patch hit, a lot of people had this .."click map & Poof" problem, it turned out to be a BSA file (interface.bsa) , back then replacing the file with an older one fixed the problem. This could be related, if verify files doesn't work, try copying that file to a different directory (moving it completely out of steam)and then Verify files.

Interface.bsa is found in ....[path to game]\Steam\steamapps\common\skyrim\Data

just a thought...
