Is my game bugged or is this legit?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 1:28 pm

I'm having a few problems:
1) food / purified water / etc does not raise my HP

2) I don't get to choose a perk every time I level up

3) last night I died, now my character won't stop punching; i've reloaded, restarted, nothing; just punches

I know there are some threads out there, I just thought a few of these might be unique to me.

perks are given every second level.

Punching might be a bug. Probably.

If you're playing in hardcoe mode healing isn't instant it take a bit so food so you won't see your health jump up immediately.

FONV does perks every other level.

What system are you using and what is your input device?

Have you tried loading an earlier save? edit: Also as Hungry Donner points out, if you're on hardcoe mode, it's heal over time rather than straight away.

2) I don't get to choose a perk every time I level up

You only get a perk every two levels. The even ones.

3) last night I died, now my character won't stop punching; i've reloaded, restarted, nothing; just punches

What system are you on? If on Pc, do you have any additional controllers plugged in that you're not using? On console, check you haven't got a sticky button.

In hardcoe mode you have to check the stats on whatever you're eating; not everything restores HP. sometimes it helps with hunger, sometimes Hydration, sometimes HP, sometimes 2 or all three of them, and sometimes it helps some, and hurts others.

One thing to remember: on Food and H2O, Negative numbers are better, as it takes away from Hunger and Dehydration, whereas on HP, Positive numbers are better. For Example: if you check something that has +10FOD, -10H2O, +5HP (8s), that means it'll actually make you hungrier, but help with hydration and health, and it'll restore those 5 points of health over the course of 8 seconds.

2) I don't get to choose a perk every time I level up
as was said, every two levels.

3) last night I died, now my character won't stop punching; i've reloaded, restarted, nothing; just punches
That's just weird; is your key stuck?? check the bindings, if not an earlier save may be necessary.

I've had that automatic attacking happen in Fallout 3 too. Restarting the game will fix it, but i think i managed to make it stop some other way too, don't remember how, though.

I'm not in hardcoe mode.
It's PS3 and the punching is really strange. I have reloaded a previous save and it still does it. Also, it won't let me equip a weapon or go into any buildings, etc. I'm gonna check tonight when I get home. Hopefully it's magically corrected itself.
I didn't know about the every other level...that's good to know.

Sounds like a very bad bug. Only thing I can think of, is clearing the cache for the PS3. I do not know if the PS3 can do this, also I do not know if this can cause more problems, and I am not shure if this will work.

Good luck, hopefully you can start a new game and you didn't spend too much time in your current game.

I'm not TOO far into it....but still it's frustrating. Like I said, I'll log into it tonight and see what the deal is. Maybe it was something with my PS3 controller, although I did switch to a different one with the same result.

Whoa wait a moment.

Do you mean that when you eat food, drink the various water bottles/nuka cola etc your health doesn't go up instantly, but over time for a duration of seconds? However Stimpacks are an instant kick of health?

If so, thats the same as me, now judging by the replies here, if I'm not in hardcoe mode (which I'm not) that shouldn't be happening?

Wow, I thought it was just part of the game... looks like thats another failure to add to the games list.

I am not using HC mode either and food still heals over time. I think it's by design personally. All HC mode does is make you need food, as I understood it. (Could be wrong.)

My ammo is weightless so I know HC mode is off.

Either way, I like it how it is.

Let your character get killed and wait for the auto save and see if the punching has stopped.

There are two types of health recovery items in the game. Instant and over time. Check out the stats on the item on your pip boy. Instant items will be listed +XX health. Over time items will be +X / time in seconds. So far all foods I've found have been in the latter category. Come to think of it, stimpacks are the only thing I've found that are instant health. Super stimpacks have both components, a rather large heal and a heal over time.
