I'm trying to launch F:NV but I get this message "The game is currently unavailable. Please try again at another time."

What does this mean? As if I didn't already dislike Steam, does this really mean I can never play the game when Steam isn't working??

Ok, I reset my PC and now when I try to launch the game, I am presented with a login box, and after typing in my password I get the message "Could not connect to Steam network." Now what do I do? How can anyone put up with this? This game is installed on my computer, but now I can't play it simply because I can't log into a superfluous service first? This is ridiculous.
