Game freezing randomly

I'm sure many people have had problems like this over the various patches, but I've never had a consistent problem with it until recently. I really didn't start playing with the 1.4 patch until a weeks after it was out, so I'm not sure if this is a fairly common issue with the patch or just a possible mod problem. I do have a wide variety of mods, so that could very well be the problem. I just hadn't noticed it until I really started playing again, a few days ago.

As I said, it seems to be random. I haven't noticed any particular place or event that causes it to happen. It also seems to happen randomly in terms of time played. One time it could freeze within 5 minutes of me loading my game, another time an hour or 2 into it. The only way I can get out of my game is to ctrl + alt + del out and terminate the process. I've tried the only fix I've seen, recently. Which involved turning off steam cloud synchronization, but that didn't help.

So, again. My main question is whether or not this is a common issue or not. If not, it's probably one of my mods causing it, even though I'm using BOSS and I'm pretty decent at knowing how to organize my load order. I'm really not sure which I'd prefer the problem to be. The patch would eventually (hopefully) be fixed, where as a mod would be fixable now, but would require a lot of screwing around with, to figure out what the problem is.

Anyway. If anyone has any helpful info, please let me know.
