Is my game glitched or is it comon for dragons to attack tow

Post » Wed Jun 06, 2012 1:37 am

I have no idea whats going on here but so far I had 4 dragons attacking 4 different towns. Is this scripted or is my game going crazy? What really svcks is people are dying and I dont know if I need them in latter quests. The last town that got attacked 4 people died before I could kill the dragon. I use to think it was awesome fighting dragons, now that they are killing towns folks I wish they would go away! :swear:

It's a common occurrence. I've lost many a townsperson to dragons ...

Like 95% of my dragon encounters are when I've just fast traveled to a city/town. Despite the fact that I'm the greatest threat to the dragons, they will often attack npcs.

Every city has a Dragon "land point" so yes expect dragons to attack.

The cities have many landing points or "dragon perches". Even settlements have them. In fact, mods that people create to add exterior buildings aren't considered complete without a dragon perch!

If you fast travel try to travel to a location outside the city and wait there for a minute. If a dragon will spawn you will now see it outside the city and hopefully kill it there. If no dragon spawns walk to the town and you should be pretty safe.

One of the things I never really liked is that if a dragon lands in the city "Old Lady Higgins" pulls out her kitchen knife and tanks the dragon. Really? While it is fun to see the dragon bite her and throw her for a quarter mile I always wonder if I needed her.

There is a mod that makes many people essential and I actually went through each town and made a lot of people essential through console command. Now they just drop to the ground and live to fight again.

First sentence is good advice. What I do if I hear the roar is fast travel somewhere else ....quickly. If you want a fight, as Kodiak says, run to it out of town, after a quick save and wax its ass. Good dragon, nice dragon.

You caught me lol, I do fast travel. But it doesn't mean dragons should be spawning in towns and wiping out towns folk.

Actually, that's exactly what it means. It will happen when using carriages as well. The solution is to fast travel to a location a little removed from the town and walk the rest of the way.

I find it to be an extremely uncommon event for a dragon to attack a town, but it does happen; I've had a couple in Windhelm and one in Riften so far.

For me its a common thibg. Whenever i fast travel to Riften or Dawnstar (usually Dawnstar) a Blood Dragon always shows up and kills off few people. Its so annoying..
And today 4 qyeat people were killed in the proces during the Dragon attack on Riften. If i didnt reload the autosave i would have lost an opportubity of buying a house because one of the jarl's people got killed. Dont remember her name but she got killed. I reloade the autosave and killed the dragon before it could do any damage. I was just lucky on my second try. (i just know where its going to attack XD) phew!

But really.. The random dragon attacks are seriously getting under my skin -_-'
Im getting aick of them

(still hoping to meet an ancient or elder dragon XD
I'm level 31 now. Nearly 32.

I have never had a dragon attack inside a walled city. They attack me outside the Riften stables very often, but not inside the city. Same goes for Windhelm, Markarth and Whiterun,

I had a dragon attack inside Solitude, right in the courtyard of the Blue Palace.

Pretty rare in my experience for a dragon to attack a walled city. Only happened 3 times in over 750 hours play. Unwalled cities/towns it seems a lot more common especially Morthal.

The only walled city I've ever had attacked was Solitude (on both characters). I've had one or two attack the Rift outside of Riften, but no other walled cities. Villages and Settlements? Quite a few times - Blacksmith and his wife were killed in Riverwood on my 2nd character. Yes, I Fast Travel most of the time. :P

That's why I stopped doing the main quest, dragons are kinda lame in that regard. I'm OCD and I don't want a dumb random dragon to destroy my NPCs before I can complete their missions. So now, I just avoid the main quest like the plague, the game is much more entertaining this way.

I was at the DB sanctuary by Falkreach and when i came out and went up a mountain and I saw a dragon attacking Falkreach it was quite a cool sight. Couldn't take a snapshot though.

I fast travel straight to towns constantly and the first time I ever saw a dragon attack within the city walls was on my current/third character. It attacked Whiterun but since then I haven't seen any other dragon attacks like it since then. But meanwhile I told my friend about it and he apparently gets attacked by dragons within city limits all the time. ._.

I always enjoy the carnage unless the npc is game critcal. Half my villages have no guards left so I pretty much do as I please, pillaging and stealing clothes right off peoples backs whenever I get tired of winning again and again.

I had two dragon attacks in Windhelm. One in the city walls and one in the docks.

My first dragon attack on a town was Riverwood, as I was leaving the inn during Diplomatic Immunity. I was able to run away, leading it away from the people and kill it. But then the whole town wants to see the skeleton. Pic in my link, its an early one so scroll thhrough to see it.

Since then, I've had attacks outside of Solitude and Riften, a lot outside of Windhelm, one at the College of Winterhold, and one inside Riften.
