I stopped playing this game after 120 hours or so last Dec. for this very reason and never finished it , it just got frustrating. But Now I have the DLC and want to finish the reg game and move on and I figured this would have been fixed by now...but this problem is still there?? really? after all this time there is no fix for the broken launcher?

If I restart my PC and the game will launch and I can play it no problems , but if I exit the game even one time every time after I get this crap until I restart the PC again.

any ideas why? it says something about GameOverlayRenderer.dll but I have the STEAM in-game overlay turned off I think.

I don't have the details that you do, but the launcher has had crashing problems since I purchased the game in October on THREE COMPUTERS!!! It is so strange, it will work fine but then I run it and the launcher crashes and when I try to launch again it crashes. I have to wait like a few minutes for it to work. The only solution is to use a shady unofficial third party non-steam executable which bypasses the launcher. I am so tempted to use it because the launcher is complete rubbish! This is a user forum so no devs will see this, but I hope somebody who knows some devs at least sees it at some point and acknowledges the issue! I honestly just came here to post about it and behold! An existing topic with the same issue. Fix it! Please. Or I won't buy skyrim, I'll torrent it. And convince my friends to do the same. I have a lot of friends.

I've had the same problem myself, but I can usually get it going again after one or two retries. I haven't had to do a restart of my PC to get it working again - at least not yet (insert knock on wood smiley here). I have several mods that require NVSE, so I'm leery about using any third party launchers. It would be nice if this problem were fixed in the upcoming patch.

Interrestingly enough mine started working fine after setting both exes to XP SP3 compatibility mode. I'm guessing it's not an universal solution as it doesn't seem to be widespread, but it's something to try.
