Game Randomly Crashing

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 11:26 am

For Sum unknown reason My game keeps crashing at random Intervals, I can be doing any number of thing like storing stuff in breeze home, to fighting storm cloak soldiers, I have recently put in the following mods

Deus Mos (Haven't been to it yet, so I dought it would be it)
amazing Shields(updated it from older version

PS. I just realized as I was typing this that my Deus Mos mod has Both ESP and ESM files Ticked, I'm gonna go test it now and untick one of them and
see what happens.

my guess the mod have something to do with it, mods can screw things up that have nothing to do with the mods it self. i downloaded a mod that made caves and such darker (think it's that one at least) and ended up with pink mammoths

Normally you need both the .esm and the .esp mods active (ie: "ticked") in order for them to work. The first process in troubleshooting should be a process of elimination. Uncheck one mod at a time to see who the culprit is.

One more thing: always read the "readme" file before installing any mod to see if the author has included a list of non-compatiable mods. You would be surprised on how easy it is to cause lockups/CTD's just because some mods don't like to get along with each other. Not only that, but some mods require some 3rd party tools (ie: SKSE) or a few added lines in your Skyrim/SkyrimPref.ini files in order to get them to work.

I can't stress enough how important reading is. Read comments, for possible bugs, and possible fixes, read the entire description, if it's a long bloated essay, it's probably there for a reason.

At last check I have 123 .esp plugins active, and like, 5 or 6 .esm plugins, no issues, no CTD, touch wood, my game is as solid as it was mod-less.

How did I do it?
Easy, a bit of common sense is needed for your load order, you need to know exactly what each esp/m is actually doing in the game, once you understand all that, setting up your load order is a breeze. No BOSS master list required. Just a bit of reading, and common sense. (Although the BOSS master list will give you a good order to start working on).

One thing I have to ask, did you update to 1.5 yet? I saw quite a few comments over on the Nexus where players claimed that installing 1.5 broke their mods. Might be worth checking into. One solution I read for this issue is to uninstall all mods, then re-install them all. A pain, I know, but if you're in that situation, just bite the bullet, it won't be wasted time. If you enjoy your game with mods that is.

If you need any specific help regarding your personal load ordering, or anything of that nature, feel free to PM me. I'll make it my mission to get your game working again.

I did read the readme files on all the mods I have and up and till a few days ago when i installed
the Deus mod everything was working fine , the problem is I unticked it and It still happened. I will unselect
the other 2 mods I have recently updated, but as the Amazing Shields mod was just a updated version and the
instructions on Nexus where I got the mods from didn't list any Incompatibility issues with other mods. They may
not have the mods I have and just haven't encountered any problem yet.

My offer still stands, I may not know a great deal about making mods, but I do know a great deal about how things work in the background on games, could you post your load order so we can look through it?
I try to keep up to date with mods released on the Nexus (won't use workshop, heard too many horror stories for me to even bother, most likely ever).
Anyway, we need a bit more info to go off to be able to help pinpoint the problem. :)

ok I'll do my best.

Jswords
Hideout
Highrespack01
HighRespack02
Monster Slayer(that's just a sword I modified in CK nothing major there)
Open Cities Skyrim
TribalmightArmor
FullMapInFull3D
18 advlt Outfits (not Going to lost every one of them but that is the next 18 files in the list)

Amazing Shields
Dues Mons
Deus Mons ( I did move the .esm file to under the Jswords as the NMM list showed it as 4th in list as the NMM shows the Skyrim and Update.esm files yet the games DAta files link doesn't.

Heater Shield

Hope this helps.

PS. I have a few other mods that don't have esm/esp files as ther more to do with textures and such.

I have a feeling that it might be the Open Cities Skyrim.esp mate.
Which svcks on several levels, 1. It's a good mod 2. it's glitchy and 3. it's apparently a pain to uninstall without additional errors.

All the other .esps I have personally used in the past, and some are still in my "permanent" load order (i.e. mods that I cannot live without). No issues.
I always wanted to try the open cities but could never bring myself to risk my game like that. :/

Sorry to break it to you, hopefully someone else will post saying that I am very wrong and it's something else.

I had two crashes trying to enter Breezehome but after deactivating anti-aliasing the game got stable again. Might be worth a try.
