3 game series

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 10:39 pm

Seeing the sequel after sequel mentality in the game business these days, many of which questionable in their need, are there any series that have been gone for a while that you would like to see a sequel/prequel/re-envisioning of? For me it would have to be the system shock series, the jade empire series, and another Baldur's gate. While I know that the the chance of seeing anything for these series ant time soon is unlikely, aside from Jade Empire anyway, I just though it would be cool to see them on store shelves again.

Well technically half-life is in the works . . . I'm sure of it . . . any day now.

System Shock 3 (been 12 years since the last game and it's my favorite game series of all time)
Chrono Break (and a re-release of Trigger & Cross)
Shenmue 3 (and a re-release of 1&2 for the current consoles)

The Original Secret of Mana. I would like to see a true sequel done to it.

Earthbound. Back in the later life-span of the N64 there was a rumor of Earthbound 64 that never materialized. Would be awesome to see that picked back up with a newer console. I imagine there are a lot of neat things that could be done with the Mother series on newer platforms that would instantly revive it's popularity.

Breath of Fire! I loved the first two, and will eventually buy the other 2 to play on my PS2. I don't consider Dragon Quarter(or whatever it's called) to be an actual BoF game. I used to literally keep journals of my progress through BoF and BoF2 when I was younger. It was written in first person perspective of the main character, so it was actually pretty interesting I think. ^^

Mirror's Edge. Hopefully Dice will start on it after Bad Company 3. Though I doubt it since they showed EA a prototype build and they turned it down :(

I think a re-boot of Zombies ate my neighbors could be very interesting.

And finally Duke Nukem. Oh wait that is finally happening :)

Kotor: The actual story continuation, not the MMO thats coming out.

Half Life: Supposedly news of Episode 3 isn't far off. Though it'll probably turn into Half Life 3.

Mechwarrior: One like the Mechwarrior games and not the rediculous Mechassault games.

Primal - I have yet to play another game with shapeshifting mechanics as satisfying as Primal's. Also, fun story and characters!

Hellgate: London - this time, more focus on the story please. I'd love for more development into the magic-and-technology paradigm, as well as a TES-like approach to factions and faction quests and an open-world setting.

Daemonica - very interesting story concept, has a lot of potential for very unique murder-mystery gameplay.

Mirror's Edge

This. Trying to force in some combat was a terrible idea, but the parkour is the best I've seen in a game, IMHO. Really wish EA would give it another chance.

Also:
- Monkey Island
- Beyond Good & Evil

The Darkness

You are in luck, Darkness 2 http://perso.wanadoo.fr/animelist/index.html.

As is Beyond Good & Evil 2, if the leaked footage and upcoming HD release of BG&E1 are any indicators!

KOTOR is sort of being reworked with The Old Republic MMO...

And I'm also waiting for Thief: 4. The day they announced that was the day I was most excited about a new game ever.
