Skyrim is buggy
Oblivion was buggy (till modders released unoffical patches)
Morrowind was buggy (till modders released unoffical patches)

Skyrim is great, as are the past TES games, but following suite it will be left buggy by the Dev's like the last ones and the modders will fix it, also following this it will also get GOTY.

Don't get me wrong I love the game and series, I just wish more would be said about the bugs, and I feel sorry for the PS3 users, they really were given a horrible version.

Skyrim is only really getting these GOTY awards because those giving know that all the Skyrim [censored] will kick up a huge [censored]storm if anyone dare speaks the truth.

There are far more deserving titles for GOTY.

I'm on PS3, I'm a lucky one who gets basically no bugs. So I definetly agree that Skyrim is GOTY. It's a shame really that bugs have ruined this game for so many people though.

Out of that list I think Skyrim, Portal 2, and TOR are the only ones I could agree with.

Honestly Skyrim is their most playable game (on release) to date

I've not once ran into any bugs that flat out ruined the experience for me or caused issues - which totally owns the completely unstable mess Fallout 3 was and Morrowind. Oblivion at least had some level of stability compaired to those two, but it still had issues to the point where I can't honestly play without heavy patches and mods.

Skryim on the other hand doesn't give me any compulsions to stop playing until patches/mods are released. Sure there are things I want to change (see signautre) and mods I'd like to install and more patches - but it doesn't seem as urgent as their previous releases.

Off topic, but your thread in your sig is really interesting. A good read :)

Well I would agree to a point, but to me Oblivion was the most stable(I didn't buy FO3 on PC so can't comment on that and FO:NV wasn't Bethesda). Yes Oblivion had a lot of bugs, but I never had any crashes in it, but I do have crashes in Skyrim (granted it was only a crash every two hours or so), those went away completely though with the LAA patch but since I logged back into Steam to play with friends on Killing Floor, since I couldn't disable auto patching I'm back to the current patch and the "built-in" LAA that Bethesda put in does not work as great as the unoffical one, I now get crashes again, though only if I play for around 4-5 hours.

I have been lucky with my issues though, just the CTD issue and that is rare, and I had once had purple textures.
Friend of mine with an i7-2600k and a GTX580 can't play without crashing every 30 minutes and it's an IT indiviual. (very similar setup to mine except for the CPU/GPU, yep I'm cheap see sig)
Another one who has the PS3 played it for a while then suddenly graphics don't load at all, and he goes down to sub 10FPS after an hour in.

well I'm on ps3 and I got to the point were I can't even play due to framerate I do not believe skyrim should be goty due to the ps3 issues and also from what I've heard the pc ui if a good portion of the people who bought the game can't play I think it's a bad game imo

It's been kind of the opposite for me :P

Crash galore with Oblivion, though not as bad as MW/FO3. Skyrim I've yet to crash once and I'm 100 hours in :P

Granted I have a much better PC now than I used to.

I've had 3 crashes... Or 2... Well anyway, I can count the number of crashes on one hand. I am 89 hours of game play split amongst 3 characters.

Compare that to other games I am currently playing:
Command and Conquer 3: Unplayable (The screen literally goes blank) if I turn the graphics up too high (This makes little sense to me, I have a brand new graphics card), other than that... no crashes. Other than that... maybe 2
Mount and Blade: Crashes... maybe once-twice a month.
Minecraft: Crashes maybe once a week.
Stronghold 3: Once a week.

Oblivion back before I quit playing it: Once a play session.

Heck, I'm running Skyrim with 3 mods and it still isn't crashing.

There is several things wrong with what the OP said.
They got an amazing review on the game like no other site
According to metacritic Skyrim has 31 perfect scores. This site gave it a 9.7/10. Amazing review like no other site?

The Elder Scrolls IV : Skyrim
Its the fifth game, not the forth.

f you havent already seen this you absolutely MUST.
Many sites gave Skyrim GOTY. Nothing new. I don't see how this is "an absolute must".

Also, as Intact Garden Gnome said, this seems like advertising.

But all that aside, I feel Skyrim deserves GOTY, just because it's buggy doesn't mean its any less of a great game.

By amazing i meant the quality of the review written, and I accidently put IV big woop mistakes, everyone makes them.

I Like Skyrim, I Like this website, and I like this community, I thought i would share the website with the community because they too like skyrim.

No need for criticism.

the PS3 framerate bug was bad but other than that the bugs are really not bad at all and definitely not a significant problem

Thanks for sharing the link though, all ways good to see another point of view for reviews and thoughts.

It seems you have forgotten the following:
Skyrim has half the content/features Oblivion had
Oblivion had half the content/features Morrowind had

I would say that Skyrim is my GOTY for 2011, but 2011 has been a really weak year for games...

So, how does uncharted get the award for best graphics? BF3 wins that hands down...Skyrim deserves GOTY, more people will spend more time playing it than any other game. The bugs will largly be addressed, the rest will be modded out. PC is just how a game this large is meant to be played. (even though if it were PC exlclusive it could have been more...)

Assuming most games are released bug free...

You do realize that EVERY game, on release, and for a bit after, is slammed with angery people saying how buggy the game is and how its the "Buggiest game ever".

Yes, Skyrim has bugs. What game doesn't? But the simple fact is, its not nearly as bad as people make it out to be. Yes, PS3 players have some issues, and Bethesda knows about them and are working to fix them. They are not done with patching the game.

imo, no 15-hour or less game (portal2 and all multiplayer heavy games) should ever get goty. it's a slap in the face.

unless they split the categories up, like they should anyways.

There's a master buglist on this very forum. Do search for it and be enlightened.

The game is nigh unplayable on the PS3. That's not "some issues".
