Game Too Bright, recover a corrupt save file?

Post » Mon May 28, 2012 7:54 pm

I've got really washed out graphics in Skyrim, and after a suggestion from another forum, I tested old save files to see if they were ok. I use minimal mods, just SkyUI (with skse), Glowing Ore Veins, and Simple Borderless Window.

Other than FoV, the graphic settings are the same for these two saves, and they are also taken at same in-game time of day.

Is there anyway to recover the recent save, because one is 3 levels lower and hours of gameplay ago. Also, what the hell caused this and how can I prevent this in the future?

I have not seen this over time with my current character.

Have you tried deleting (or backing up and deleting) the INI and Prefs files and restarting the game?

I deleted both ini and pref. If I make a new game or visit old saves, it's fine, it's only the last few hours of game saves that are washed out.

After the last patch there were a number of people who reported having that overbright effect. I my case, it occurred after I exited a dungeon into the sunlight and did not go away. You can probabably find a number of proposed explanations and solutions. In my case, In my case things gradually went back to normal. None of the solutions I tried seemed to help immediately, but maybe one of them actually did. I also experienced a simultaneous halfing of fps.
