Do any of you do gameplay commentaries on youtube? I just got started and was looking for some tips on making them more interesting.

I would appreciate it if someone experienced with commentating could give me some tips :)

I used to do commentaries, but meh... I didn't really find them very entertaining to do. I ended up deleting my videos because I just wasn't satisfied with my commentary.

My suggestion is to not try too hard, just act casual when you're commentating. Don't overemphasize words. Pretend you're having a laid back conversation with a friend, and try not to think about the fact that you're actually talking to an inanimate object.

Good luck, I'll watch a few of your vids and give more tips if you want.

After randomly skipping around your video for all of 10 seconds I've come up with some conclusions:
Plan out your experience better. I know you aren't necessarily experienced with Minecraft but when you realized it was going to take a while to make glass you should have went and done something else
I'd keep out your random thoughts on life, people (or at least me) aren't going to watch someone play a game to get a game plus some random blog, I want to see you play a game
I also want funny commentary which I didn't run into in my quick tour of your video, though it might have been there that I didn't see

If you want to see a good series watch TotalBiscuits stuff. I don't think many people are going to be interested in you doing Minecraft as so many people do it but if you're just doing it because you enjoy doing it go for it.

From what I've seen some youtubers actually do that within their game commentaries. But to start off you want to stick to the game.

Well it's a lets play so your not supposed to plan it out. Rather the audience is supposed to be experiencing the game with you. But yeah, thanks for the tip.
I'm really just asking this because I hit 2000 subscribers in like 3 days and I don't want to lose my new audience.

That is a lot of subs in a short time period...

If you're doing a let's play, try not to give second by second commentary of what you're doing. The audience has eyes, they can see what you're doing without you needing to explain. Try to talk about other things about the game, or about gaming in general. Or talk about your life, if your life is interesting. Just don't sound forced.

Haha yeah. I think Machinima or some other big gaming channel liked one of my videos and it brought a crapload of traffic to my channel.

2500 subscribers, 1400 views? Sorcerer....

Just keep it casual. And definitely, definitely keep to an upload schedule. I was doing Fails of the Day with Left 4 Dead 2. My plan wasn't super awesome videos or super long videos, but I wanted halfway funny videos quite frequently because, as a viewer, I really like seeing updates on my YouTube homepage. Granted, the rate I was putting out videos was just too much to keep up with for more than a couple weeks and I had to abandon it.
