Posting this if anyone is interested.

My personal favorite is HK-47, I'll be voting for him. Who would've known the best dialogue ever heard in a video game came in a metal package. anolysis: There is a 99% probability the Meatbag's in this tournament all suffer unfortunate blaster accidents in the near future.

I really like Cortana too, I really liked the part she played in the Halo story. Daxter of course, another one I really like, he's crazy in a good way. I liked the Dog in Fable 2, it's the first pet I've had in a game and I really wish other games could implement them somehow. Always liked Luigi over Mario. The Moogles in Final Fantasy are cool too, I still remember meeting the one at the beginning of Final Fantasy III. Always liked Tails over Sonic too, just because he hovered with his tail. Navi, that annoying little [censored], I still liked her in the end. :laugh:

Those are really the only ones I've had much experience with and liked.

I made dogmeat go to the finals but I let the Companion Cube win. Even dogmeat can't beat it.

Garrus! Garrus! Garrus! I hope that SPACE BATMAN, GARRUS VAKARIAN, wins, because he is amazingly awesome. Actually, I'd accept HK-47 winning as well.

Garrus is too busy with his calibrations to win a silly contest.

It had no personality, never said anything, and was in a 2-3 hour game for 15 minutes. Compared to Garrus Vakarian, who's been in two 15-20 hour games, nearly the entire game, and has loads of dialogue and personality, it doesn't even compare.

And that's just Garrus. Forget about it even standing close to Alyx Vance and the other great sidekicks up there. Hell, the Dog from Fable 2 is better than it (but it's going up against Frogs in the first round, which is cruel).

Dogmeat, Dominic Santiago, Garrus Vakarian, Clank, and Captain Price.

I like them all but I give this one to Garrus, with Dogmeat as a close second.

My guess is if Alyx doesn't win, she'll probably be in the top 10 somewhere. As she should be. I'm very happy to see Minsc on the list, too. No RPG party is complete without Minsc.

...I do wonder what on God's green earth possessed them to stick Sheva Alomar on that list, though. On any difficulty higher than easy she's, quite frankly, the worst AI companion I've ever run into. Not only do you have to babysit her constantly despite her being armed, but I swear she's been programmed to do the exact opposite of anything helpful. There was one incident in a boss fight in which I put down proximity mines...only to have her come running after me, picking them all up and giving them back to me.

WHY YOU DO THIS, CAPCOM. WHY.

I also had an issue with her picking up ammo before I could and promptly loading it into the guns she never bloody used, owing to her having some sort of sentimental attachment to her pistol. And since for some reason the game wouldn't just let me take/swap guns with her outside the inventory screens at the end of each chapter, I wound up having to restart a level because I was completely out of ammunition and there was a chainsaw man running for my face.

Yup. I had to restart an entire chapter (I was right near the end, too) because my AI ally stole all my ammo and made the game impossible to continue. If that ain't terrible design and programming, I don't know what is.



Mo is too awesome for a mere "sidekick" list. True fact.

(Actually, it's more likely that she doesn't fit the traditional definition of sidekick and probably better belongs on a "greatest game characters" list or similar. She's a main character and doesn't accompany Ben as an AI/party companion. ...Also, I give you mad props for thinking of her, sir. )

I hate these little things that Gamespot and other do because they always do the most recent games, the newer games just don't stand up to older games like Dark Forces and Full Throttle and Sam & Max (when I say Sam & Max I mean from the LucasArts days of Hit the Road). I mean it says, "Of all Time" but they are only going back a few years. Hell, the lantern from Zork could be considered a sidekick because you had to take care of it otherwise you'd be eaten by a Grue.

No Kazooie.

I already voted Kazooie in post #35. I love Kazooie definetly one of the best. I hope for another Banjo game one day.
