Didn't Gamespot give the game a 9/10, huh they must've really liked it if they gave that low of a rating and still awarded it GOTY. Agree with the comment on New Vegas about it not being truly open world, it's still a good game but not truly an open world game due to the linearness of certain sections, it opens up later on but not until then. Thankfully Skyrim isn't as buggy as that game.
Why does every good game have to be a 10/10? I remember back in the days when games done very well getting a 9, never mind a 10. On a scale of 1-10, a 9 isn't shabby, far from it. In fact, no game really should be a 10 unless it offers something truly unique and has been executed to near perfection, something most games, including Skyrim, don't offer.
For the above reasons, that's why reviews are now worthless. Unless a good game gets a 10, then there's people out there that think it may well have just got a six. 6 is mediocre, not bad, whilst 9 is excellent and is nothing to be sniffed at.
