GECK doesn't load the esm?

Post » Mon Jun 13, 2011 11:30 pm

I did a bit a modding back with FO3, so instead of putting a bunch of other mods together (that might conflict), I'm just going to fiddle around with the GECK on my own. I remember a fair amount of how to use it, but I'm having one basic problem. That is, I try to load the FalloutNV.esm, and it doesn't load. It just goes back to the main GECK screen, and I don't see any of the items. If it matters, I'm using v 1.1.0.262 and running Windows 7.

Also, a few other assorted questions:

1) What's the variable that affects base carry weight?

2) What's the variable that affect the effect Strength has on carry weight?

Thanks.

Can't answer the latter 2 questions without doing a bit of investigating, but the reason why the GECK won't load FalloutNV.esm is because you're not using the latest version of the GECK. Download it through http://fallout.gamesas.com/eng/downloads/geck.php and you'll be all set.

fActorStrengthEncumbranceMult is the strength multiplier, I'm not sure what the base one is.

Also to your first point what the above poster said is what happened to me. For some reason they still have the old version of the GECK linked on their site on some pages so you have to be careful and be sure you're getting 1.3 not 1.1 or it won't work.

If you have DLC, by default it tries to load any DLC for which you have the .nam file for (like DeadMoney.nam), but the geck ini defaults to 0 for loading multiple masters.

Check your ini for that if you have multiple masters

yeah, that all seemed to work.

Thanks for the strength multiplier variable. Anyone have the one for the base? Thanks.\\

edit: I found it. It's actually, fAVDCarryWeightsBase for the base weight and fAVDCarryWeightMult for the mulitplier. I don't recall the FO3 GECK having a filter (which is how I found this). It's a pretty handy tool.

Whoops, yea mine sounds more like the one from Oblivion than Fallout, I must've been checking the wrong thing or the old values still in there sorry.
