Geck doesn't want to start?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 5:55 am

Ok, this image will basically describe the problem: http://img576.imageshack.us/img576/9589/errorc.png

I don't have that DLL and I can't find it anywhere on the internet for download. How do I fix this?

Nevermind, I got it to go. I simply found the .dll in my Fallout 3 game folder, copied it and then pasted it in FalloutNV folder. If anyone else has problems with this, here's your answer. (If you also have other missing .dlls they'll be in Fallout 3's folder too.)

Lock this thread, solution has been found.

I have the same problem only the solution is no good for me as i do not have Fallout 3 installed anymore.

Must be another way.

EDIT: simply placing the GECK and files in the New Vegas folder fixed the problem for me.

As you have discovered GECK needs to be placed in the Fallout NV folder.

I get so tired of lazy developers, I see this all the time. No installer, or very poorly written instructions. If I ever begin to understand all of this clearly, someday I will be the example that all software developers will emulate. For now all I can do is try and help. After you download the G.E.C.K NV Edition, which to me looks the same as FO3 G.E.C.K 1.5, you must "manually" move or copy and paste all files into your Fallout New Vegas game folder, in order to not experience the missing "*.dll" error.

Make sure you have them in the correct folder located in program files\Steam\Steamapps\Common\ "fallout new vegas" and it should work.

As opposed to what non-steam version?

The Fallout website under downloads. When you download it you need to extract the exe into your fallout folder where the game launcher and exe are.
