GECK issue

Hi everyone,

I have a rather alarming problem with the GECK and my Steam copy of New Vegas. First of all, I can use the GECK quite well, its an exellent bit of software and saves everything without a hitch. I made a small test mod (which added a few items lying arround in Goodsprings) but when I went to activate the mod through the loading menu, the application crashes. I also noticed that my Caravan Pack pre-order-DLC-mod-thing is inactive even though it is active in the game. Assuming that the loading menu was just screwed up I went to Goodsprings where I found that my test mod is not activated.

Any advice as to what I can do would be appreciated.

Where specifically do you see the crash? When selecting or unselecting items in the "files" dialog of the main load screen? That seems very odd. If you see the crash when loading a game, it may be because the mods which were active in the save game, are not active when you go to load. I try to keep a save game which is "pure" of any mods, and use that to load when I try out any mod.

What do you mean "when I went to activate the mod through the loading menu"?. Inside GECK or the "Data Files" option?

In Geck, you load FalloutNV.esm, then save your own Mod.esm. Then load only your Mod.esm (as Active File) and make changes. Then load NV with your mod checked.

Oh, guess I should have been more clear. After I save the file and try to load it in Data Files menu off the opening menu (for New Vegas itself) it crashes. In this Data Files menu I also see that CaravanPack is not activated. When I try to activate that as well, it crashes.

It may or may not be relevant but my computer runs on Windows Vista.

I don't think this type of crash is very common. I cannot think of anything that would cause this. To repeat, the data files menu off the opening menu contains a list of all the mod files you have installed, with a checkbox next to each one. As you click on the checkbox, before you leave the data files menu, you get a crash? It is much more common to have a crash when you actually load a saved game. What you are describing happens a long time before that. Is this where your crash is happening?

Yeah you got it. Everytime I double-click on the name of the file there, it crashes.

Have you tried loading your mods in something other then the default loader? The mod manager perhaps? FNVEdit? Never seen your issue before so can't say really.
