Gems and smithing

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 5:55 am

I have not seen a thread on this, if I missed it point me the way and let this one die.

I know not everything can fit in the game their is a give and take. That said I would of liked a deeper crafting system with gems and armor. I have all these gems and they are good for nothing but the rare quest and to sell. I was hoping to use them in smithing. Like rubes around the neck of my armor or a diamond on the hilt of a sword. That kind of thing. Just for RP it would of been cool the make ebony armor with rubys on the briastplate and RP the dragon knight ( prince ) from Game of Thrones.

I love the game don't get me wrong IMHO I would of excepted the the cutting of things like marriage for deeper smithing with gems. How about you?

Aye, you can I forgot about that when typing. Still not the same as putting them on armor and weapons. I would of liked to of been a fly on the wall at the board meetings.

I just used a bushel of them to craft enchanted gear to pay for about 8 points of Conjuration training, seems OK to me.

Not the point I was making but thanks for the input, I could take every broom I found and do the same.
Edit: oh would you mind telling me how you used them with enchanted gear ?

NP, I was broke but wanted to buy a bunch of Conjuration to get up to 90 or so to get high-level spells. So I went through the barrels in my house and got all the jewels and all the gold and silver. Then I went down to the forge and made the most expensive jewelry I could. Then I came back to my house and enchanted it all with +carry weight and +sneak. Then I went to the trainer, bought some training, then sold him some enchanted jewelry, rinse and repeat. At the end I was down to about 200 gold but my Conjuration was at 91. Booked it to Winterhold, now I have Madanach rolling with me carrying two legendary ebony war axes. How he will pan out I am not sure, but I am enjoying killing him at will, he is kind of a jerk.

Lol thanks. Ya that's what I thought. That's the kind of thing I use them for to. I just throught with them in the game and smithing in the game it would have been nice for say a lvl 100 perk to be using gems on your armor and weapons.
