If I moderated this forum, I'd get annoyed by threads like this. But I don't have any other easy way to simply say what I want to say, so here's a whole thread!

I would send you a handwritten letter if I could, haha. But I live in Japan, so that's awkward on a number of levels.

As a follower of the Fallout community since I was a wee lad -- first at No Mutants Allowed and Duck and Cover, then later around at RPGCodex, through the rise and fall of Tim Cain's Troika -- I just want to say, way to go.

Fallout 3 blew. I think a lot of people would agree with me on that. It was a failed sandbox so shallow I could barely stand playing 10 hours.

New Vegas is a masterpiece. The reputation system, the character design, the writing, the world's atmosphere and grit...

You have made a masterpiece. This is as legitimate a successor to the Fallouts of old as we could possibly HOPE for, given Bethesda's engine and groundwork. It's really beautiful. I will always consider this the real Fallout 3, and Bethesda's clunkfest I'll just sorta... forget, in time.

So, thank you. This and the Mass Effect series are the only really, really good RPGs I've played in recent years. Different styles, obviously -- but it's like the modern-day Fallout/PST and Baldur's Gate parallel, when Bioware did its thing and you did yours. And yours kicks ass.

I didn't wanna just sit on my happiness with the game, so I'm posting instead, just cuz I wanna be heard. I'm 24 and I grew up loving Fallout and PST to pieces. I hated FO 3. And I love this.

Also, shoutout to JE Sawyer. Glad to finally have a game to look at and call yours. Obviously it's not, lots of people made this with lots of conflicting demands... but this feels more purely like your vision than anything else has so far. And as we all knew it would, when that day came, it kicked ass. Congrats.

Great game, would have liked the real Van Buren over this though.
