Forgive the noobiness of the following questions, I checked UESP and the Wiki, but the information I sought was not there.

Do the foodstuffs and chests respawn in Gerdur and Hod's house?

I'd like to use it as my storage/food grab, but I don't want to lose my gear or empty the house so that it becomes rather plain.

Check the containers page at UESP. There are some known safe places. Don't know about Gerdur's house. Nice gal, but unsure if its safe.

They do restock.
Also the containers belong to them so if you put anything valuable in them it will be marked stolen when you take it out.

As I said, the UESP didn't contain the information I sought. I check the "Containers" page, and it also specificies no specific information.

That means your stuff will probablay dissapear if you leave it in there too long.

Actually, while the thread is still on the board; are there any "safe" containers in Riverwood, other than in Delphine's Secret Room?

Probably any barrel outside that doesn't show "steal from barrel". There's one in front of the Trader's.
