How is it that Fallout NV is the only program that messes up my Steam? No other game freezes up steam when it crashes, or makes it so that Steam won't connect for 3 hours.

New Vegas's constant freezing and crashing wouldn't be too bad if I could go back into my game, or even play another game, but sadly I cannot. It just lockes me out completely. And I like I said, it isn't Steam's fault. No other game causes this to happen. Nothing even remotely similar.

I love New Vegas, but seriously, they could have made things sync up to steam a little better.

Of all the CTDs I have had, that has never happened to me. (After over 400 hours there's been a lot of crashes—especially before the 2nd patch.)

As a matter of fact I usually close the steam dialog before playing.

Yup. I've only had a few crashes. I don't use the Steam client to play the game. In fact I put it in offline mode and play NV through FOMM or go into the folder it is located in and play it through the .exe file.

You could try turning off the Steam overlay--early on, some people reported crashing associated with it (Right-click on New Vegas in your Steam Games Library, click Properties, and uncheck Enable Steam Community In-Game).

Also, you could try playing with Steam in offline mode, if Steam is having trouble reconnecting.
