getting married on normal clothes?

Post » Wed Jun 13, 2012 12:47 pm

Honestly i think that bethesda's idea on marriage isn't so good. i mean dont get me wrong, this game is legendary but marrying someone with the same clothes they are wearing when you meet them is quite lame, my wife thought it was just casual friday when we married, with a pickaxe on her belt, what do you guys think?

could have been cool to invite the greybeards to your weeding, they would have rocked the chapel, literally

I first married Aela and although I made an effort, she just turned up in her usual garb, we did the deed and then she walked off without a word!! Same nearly happened when I tried it again with Lydia, but at least *after* we were married I was able to put Lydia into something more casual when we just wanted to go out to the Tavern of an evening. She'd still equip her damn Hunting Bow though!

I think Beth should've cut the marriage out of the game before release, and worked on fixing the flaws of the game. A real waste of time for Bethesda, this marriage feature...
After all, this isn't The Sims, or Fable. It's an Elder Scrolls game, and marriage is really unnecessary.
If you can't get it right, don't do it at all, Bethesda.

My female Nord has a wedding dress/shoes/ring and headpiece... thought she may not have aquired it... peacefully.

Even wears it on occasion when strolling through Solitude. No one says anything. Maybe they are to scared lol Though one guard did mention "hail Sithis"

That would be cool if npc's would change their clothes every once in a while.
It might help the smell

If you can't get it right, don't do it at all, Bethesda.

By that logic, there'd be an awful lot missing from this game, such as Destruction, Lockpicking, Shouts, Dragon encounters, Radiant AI, Nirnroots, and Horses. Just to name a few.

Jobs or horse drawn fast travel isn't neccassry either yet it is still in the game and makes it fun, if they didn't have several things like Marriages in the game than it would just almost be another hack and slash -__-

I agree with you, but my orc shaman does not wear normal clothes anyway. If you had traditional tribe clothes however... :D
Would be nice if i could get married in a stronghold too, one you have a good relation with.

By this logic, the Elder Scrolls wouldn't exist. And mankind wouldnt have invented the wheel yet.

Well, look at this way: better a pickaxe on the belt than a bottle of rum in the hand, searching for the ring with the other - and realizing only at the last seconds that you had forgotten it with your pants in the car "flirting" with the witness-spouse  :bunny:

So.... by that logic Morrowind and Oblivion are hack and slash games....
really..
Marriage as is.. is a pretty useless feature.. it feels tagged on.. Non of the marriage candidates have a sixual preference (they're all Bi).. and it almost seems an addition to give a player cheap player housing and an extra store..
I know it adds to peoples RP but for the love of God I don't get it why people cannot comment on it not working for them or it being shallow.. (which it is) things like OPs addition of casual clothes would be just a tiny addition making it a little deeper.
By this logic, the Elder Scrolls wouldn't exist. And mankind wouldnt have invented the wheel yet.
Nice one.. Quoting without context.. and framing an argument in such a way no sensible soul would agree with his/hers criticism.
In stead of debunking the statement as such why not argue why it does work.. that is what discussing features is about me thinks.

The marriage its a debatable feature of course in the actual state. If you consider it useless, you can just avoid it -like myself.

I had already criticized the choice of make all the available Npcs bisixual, but on a second thought i think that i have understand - at least partially -the reasons above this "choice":this way every one can marry these Npcs without restrictions (i mean, even "technical" ) and in the same time the developers could "avoid" any form of criticism about "sixual preferences".

However,we don't have six either in the game; i don't mean pormography or explicit scenes of course, but a little "black screen" like Fallout New Vegas and the opportunity to go with prosttutes and "gigolos" would have been welcomed in a M rated product like this - more than the Op request, with all due respect
