GGood program to run to check temp of desktop as well as vid

Post » Sat Jun 02, 2012 9:58 am

Hey guys and gals just wondering if there was a good program out there to check the temp of your vid card and your computer. I have been playing Skyrim as well as LOTRO and when im playing them i look at buildings and Boulders and tney have little squares on them. I uninstalled all the drivers and when it booted back up it worked great but then a couple days later the issue came back. Im running an XFX ATI Radeon 6830 HD 1GB.

Look at the left side of the Boulder and thats my issue.

Uhm, do you mean CPU?

The only way to check the temperature of the computer as a whole is to have a sensor or something dangling around in the case itself.

Personally, I use Hardware Monitor.

Also, which driver version are you running?

The driver for your video card. There are various versions that are borked and can give the effect you are describing.

For future reference, Norton reports a bunch of false positives. Hardware Monitor is safe.

For monitoring the video card I prefer http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/or MSI Afterburner. For CPU I use Core Temp.

12.2/12.3 was the borked driver. You need to completely uninstall it first. Then wipe out the left over files. Then install a different driver. I'd start with 12.1, myself. It's got the least amount of reported problems that I'm aware of.

Ok ill do that also. Could my graphics problem be caused of not having a big enough power supply. I was told my PS was good but idk.

Ok, I'll do that also. Could my graphics problem be because of not having a strong enough power supply? I was told my PSU was good but I don't know.

What is your PSU?
