Post » Sun Jun 03, 2012 1:23 am

I started another caharacter today, i chose a Breton because of their magic skill.
I want to be a conjurer/necromage, any tips? I use a mace, should i still go in to destruction? Heavy or light armor?

You absoloutely don't need a mace. Firstly, I suggest starting off as a Dark Elf or High Elf since they both have advantages when it comes to arcane mastery. Secondly, you should really be using a light armour or robes. In my opinion the best robes one can get are the Arch-Mage robes from the college of Winterhold questline. When you complete it, you will recieve them along with a few other delights. Also, train yourself if destruction magic. I tend to use fire spells a lot and have all my destruction spells perked to level 100. If you're bored of using just magic, then I suggest you seek out using one-handed weapons. I tend to use the Ebony Sword or the Dawnbreaker (Daedric Artifact) since they're decent enough weapons.

I really wouldn't suggest using staves other than the Wabbajack or the Staff of Magnus since the others are pretty much useless compared to using the exact same spell just only using magicka and not having to refill with soul gems. If you really want to use staves, I suggest you seek out the Black Star/Azura's Star (Daedric Artifact)

With all of that taken care of, I can kill elder dragons in 4-5 shots from the fireball spell and it only drains 1/16th of my Magicka bar (estimate) and my defense is pretty damn good.

That's pretty much it. Have a fun time playing :D

Yeah thanks!
The thing is that i don't really enjoy all the kiting you have to do with destruction.. And the fact that spells doesn'tlevel with you makes it 10x worse! That's why i use a one-handed weapon! Maybe i can use some destruction AND one-handed?
And about the armor... I don't want to be oneshotted by everything so i am aiming at using light or heavy armor, cause' the only good thing about wearing clothes is the bonus you get from using Alteration(or restoration, i don't remember), but i aint planning on using that so that's why :P

I chose breton because of their 10+ in conjuration and because they begin with the ''conjure familiar'' spell(wich i later realized svcked ass)
And no, i don't plan on using staves.. Maybe the wabbajack for [censored] and giggles :P

Thanks for the help

light armor is vastly superior to robes, the extra mana regen or reduction isnt a big deal compared to extra survivalbiltiy from armor.

I would recommend getting dead thrall as soon possible and creating your own little army. You should also use breton for the magic resist.

Lots of good info on dead thralls here:

Staff of the storm wall is a rather powerful staff, at least IMO at my point in the game.

Twin souls lets you have 2 thralls, each thrall effectiveing acting as an additional follower once you enchant their gear and give them some weapons/staves.

you+follower+dog+thrall 1 + thrall 2 + summoned atronachs/dremora = your own little army.

I'm playing a Breton mage mainly for the 25% head start in magic resistance. I leveled up conjuration after level 20. I got the Conjure Dremora Lord spell as soon as I could. That spell almost breaks the game. I can walk into any dungeon without fear now.

Hmm, this is probably a bit late and you probably won't even read this, but is there a dremora thrall? And how much does a thrall spell cost once i get them?

Not sure on the cost, but it is a master level spell, so expect to pay a LOT. Also, there is no dremora thrall. Just having a dremora that lasts a couple of minutes is incredibly overpowered. Having one that lasted forever would be crazy.

Also note that I believe that if your zombies/dead thralls are conjurors, they can and sometimes do summon or raise their own minions.

Well, that's going to depend on your speech skill somewhat. I haven't yet been able to buy any master level spells, but I just bought some expert level, and they were around 1800 septims each with about 55 speech- I think. I assume master level spells will be considerably higher. I actually bought some of them from Enthir, because he is a general merchant, and will buy my potions, so I was essentially able to trade what amounted to probably less than 100 septims worth of alchemy ingredients for them.

there are various dremora thralls - mehrunes shrine for example, but if you want the strongest one, youll need to be around level 36 to meet a dremora markynaz. they hit almost as hard as dremora lord.
