give the first 3 elder scrolls the halo treatment or at leas

Post » Sat May 12, 2012 4:36 am

id really like to see the first 3 elder scroll games come to the 360 either through hd upgrades like halo anniversary or the live marketplace. with so many other games getting this treatment resident evil, silent hill and so on i believe now is the time. especially with so many comments in skyrim about morrowind it makes me want to play them all.

Unfortunately that's not going to happen because Bethesda lost the source code to some of their previous games, which means that porting them to a system like the 360 is impossible without re-writing the engine from scratch.

Aside from Morrowind, pretty much any computer from like '96 should be able to play Arena and Daggerfall. Just go to Bethesdas site and they're offering those two for free.

Also, don't be a baby, play Morrowind normally. Not being in HD won't kill you, I promise.

Maybe it will, maybe it won't, but is he willing to take that risk? :stare:

What's worse, to me, is the combat system. Even if it actually did look as good as Skyrim, or better, it'd still be stuck with it's awful combat and animations. All that would need to change too for me to buy an old TES again.

Out of the hundreds (thousands?) of screenshots showing the current status of MW graphics mods, you chose that picture?

True, it's one of my rather old ones, but it's also the only one that I've taken thus far. It looks better at 1920x1080 though.

They should just put http://xlengine.com/?page_id=56 on their payroll and pay him for a 360 port. :P

IF you're willing to go through that DOSbox [censored], which I am not.

Seriously, I've tried to install Daggerfall at least twenty times.

It's not hard at all, and there are http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/479044-how-to-get-the-past-games-to-run/page__p__6877868 on this forum. I've even heard there is a prepackaged installer floating around somewhere that makes it even possible for those that are command-line handicapped to be able to play it.

I believe that I tried that. I found it easier to just set up DOSBox and play it within that.

But DOSbox has pretty high requirements.

I actually think Daggerfall taxes my system more than Skyrim does. :P

Yeah, it's easy enough to run these games through DOSbox. If you just follow the instructions it will install without a hitch, just have to make sure you know where the folder with your install files is! And I think Morrowind would run on most computers these days too, it isn't very demanding. Although I think 95% of the console audience wouldn't be willing to put in the effort required to get into the earlier games anyway.

Try no more.. DF straight to desktop download (no dosbox config needed) tell you friends, or better tell other forum users.

I must be one of the 5%

My issue is I'm not very computer literate beyond slightly above general public computer know how. I don't even know what a DOSbox is if that's an indicator of how bad iti s. :sadvaultboy:

Not that big of a Fan-Base anyway. Halo is on a much larger scale.

It will never happen.

It looks scary, but if all you aim to do is play Daggerfall:

1. Download DOSBox
2. Click to run the installer
3. Download Daggerfall
4. Open DOSBox
5. Follow the Daggerfall install instructions (pretty much just type what they tell you to into DOSBox)
6. Enjoy!
