Gjukar's Monument

Hello,

Is there any other information on the battle that this monument commemorates? Are we looking back on an event that is fleshed out more in an earlier game?
I have done the associated side-mission and I cannot tell if it is referring to some big event in history that there is more information on. Online sources like UESP and the Wikia page mention nothing except info about the side-quest (part 4 of The Book of Love)

Who was Gjukar? Who was his army fighting? When did this go down?

Based on the monument location and the location of Gjukar's Army encampment, one surmises the army headed south-west the morning after their ill-fated bivouac. I have checked out the land around the monument extensively and it indeed is a perfect site for an ambush were an eastern-facing army placed on the small cliffs overlooking the monument site. Something about this event really intrigues me and gets my imagination going, I want to know any more established facts before I develop a whole story (and maybe some kind of fun archaeological quest) in my head that turns out to be contradicted by previously established lore facts etc.

Thanks!

There's unfortunately nothing in lore(bookwise) about Gjukar or his men. Feel free to devise your own situation as to how everything went down.

Thank you!

That is a kosher in this game, where there is no cannon facts, players and modders are allowed to riff of whatever they like?... excellent!
