Glitches in necromancy

Post » Wed May 30, 2012 1:26 am

Are any of you experiencing these problems? Or have there been threads about it? I looked, but couldn't find any.

When reanimating corpses, they often tend to return to the point of initial reanimation when a fight starts. This makes my zombie completely useless when outside of that area.
Another thing I've encountered, which has only been partially addressed, is my zombies not moving to the next area. They'll follow me, and then turn to ash after entering the area, creating an unlootable ash pile.

I've found that if I wait a minute, I can loot the ash but that's besides the point.

I even restarted, thinking it may have been my save game, but that didn't work.

Any helpful reply would be... Helpful.

It might just be due to the level design of that (or those) particular dungeons, i.e. those npcs cannot leave those parts of the dungeon due to quest limitations or something. To test if this is the case, go out into the woods or the plains, kill a wolf or some other creature, reanimate it and see if it follows you then.

Hey, great response. You're the hobosrcool guy :D

I'm going to check this out because now that I think about it, you could be totally right. Still, if that's the case it's a little lame because honestly, what dungeons aren't quest related really? Anyway, off to go testing.

Same here. I was actually just about to post both of these issues mysefl :)

  • Reanimated corpses will follow you while all is quiet, but they often (always?) return to the spot they were raised when a fight begins. It appears as though they return to pick up a weapon, which is strange because I purposely leave weapons on them so that they don't have to go back, yet I think even those that have weapons return anyway.
  • As soon as you go through a door that loads they turn to ash.

Maybe hobosrcool's suggestion is the correct reason why #2 happens (pun intended, hehe), but IMO it's not what should be happening. If I conjure something it follows me. Likewise, a normal companion follows me. So why shouldn't a reanimated companion follow me?

I'm having a similar problem, but what I'm seeing is that when I ressurect someone, they tend to 'walk' in place. They don't do anything other then that, and when the timer runs out for them to turn into a pile of ash... They're still running in place. Does the same thing with the Vampire's Thrall power.
