Glitching Textures :(

Post » Mon Jul 16, 2012 9:19 am

My comp runs Skyrim on Max with very high FPS, so it's not the build. PC temps are staying very low as well.

I'm getting glitching textures on the mountains that are off to the West of Whiterun. Just these mountains too, none of the other ones. The textures flash, and glitch, and it's really breaking immersion. I've seen a couple posts around google of people getting the same glitch on the same mountains, but haven't found a solution to it yet. Anyone come across this before, and know how to fix it?

Yeah I experienced this in my current playthrough. Also happened within Whiterun itself, the edges of some of the buildings and such. A big chunk of water in the river next to Riverwood was missing as well.

Don't think there is a way to fix it, perhaps a mod since your on PC.

Yeah, I removed all the mods I had and the glitch was still there, I have yet to test it on a clean install though, don't really want to do that lol.

I'm not having the problems in the water or edges of buildings though, just those particular mountains.

This is a clean install for me, I deleted everything and cleared my cache before reinstalling the game to my HDD and downloading all the patches again, still happened.

Im on PS3, and sometimes textures on items while bartering are incomplete, and even worse there are dragons that look like they are one big blob of texture.

It's semi-rare but still odd....

Hmm, at least I know it isn't a mod. Still wish I could find a fix to this though.

It'll likely come in a patch if ever, so best not worry too much :)

If they haven't fixed it by now, they won't fix it. 7 months after release.

That is called "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Z-fighting" and i get it too on certain mountains west of Whiterun. I've heard the http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/11 guide at Nexus has some tips on reducing it.
