Do Goats hate Khajiit? Saddest thing ever...

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 10:36 am

So I'm roaming about on the road to Windhelm and come across a Khajiit caravan. Having nothing better to I decide to tag along for a while.... none of the three seems to be in charge, or at least nobody seems to be selling anything. Oddly, there's no discussion of the poor marriage prospects in Skyrim.
Suddenly, six red dots appear on the radar. 'Bandits' I think, and ready my bow... but to my amazement, no, six goats start laying into my erstwhile companions. Personally I have never been attacked by a goat... I've tripped over goats without them getting hostile. Is there some kind of instinctual and Khajiit-specific goat-hate on for cat-people?
The battle is brief but surprisingly intense... however, once the dust settles, and we resume our walk, I find the caravan guard - a lady-Khajiit called Ahaya (might have the spelling wrong there) is crawling along with a limp. Her heartless employers though, just trudge off away up the road.
Anyway, (until I became impatient, and saved the game) I've been creeping along with her acting as a bodyguard. I feel somewhat responsible - as a level 53 character, I should have smacked those goats, or at least seen them coming. The sad thing is, she keeps going on about "There are many beautiful things in Skyrim", and "the air is so clear" and the warm sands of Elseweyr. I've tried chucking health and stamina potions at her, but to no effect... on one occasion she actually said "there's a place for trash - and that place is not here."
Anyway, does anyone have any advice. There are few enough Khajiit NPCs in Skyrim, and I'd hate to lose one through my own fault - what if she gets eaten by a bear? Also, I'd like my character's life back.
...and seriously... goats!?

I believe that it was confirmed to be only 16 total Khajiit in Skyrim. That's not counting bandits.

Also I'm now watching my back around goats! :P

A female Khajiit? I don't think so. Seems the story is not true.

In re. to 'Shasow' : No I think definitely female... even with the steel armor and all. (you can tell by the voice... usually... and, the... ahem... physique.) Either that, or I've been guarding a Khajiit lady-boy... which would make my day even stranger.

I got attacked by 3 goats a little bit outside Markarth. I looked for a spriggen or anything else that could account for goats attacking. Nothing their I could find.

Update...
At this point have just passed 'Darkshade' - at this rate it'll be monday before we reach Windhelm. At least the psycho-goats haven't re-appeared.

I had to run up ahead to shoot a bandit at one point. Ironically, when, at length, my gimpy companion caught up the best she could say was "Dead? How can this be?"... some thanks... and then, somewhat complainingly (I think) "The mountains of Skyrim are so high".
Have tried 'heal other' and somewhat poignantly 'courage' on her but to no effect again. This might be because my character is crap at magic... having completely eschewed the hocus-pocus for smithing and brawling.
As a possible resort, is there a dungeon with a 'staff of "Buck Up Will-ya"' anywhere nearby? I'm afraid things will slow to an even greater crawl when we hit the steep bits ahead - then I'll just have to save again and go to the pub.

Spriggans will often enchant the nearby wildlife and use them to attack you. It's really daunting when they use a sabrecat or a snow bear, but sometimes the only thing nearby is something relatively harmless like a deer, cow, or goat.

I once killed a spriggan outside of Winterhold and saw three red dots on my compass and went looking for them. Turns out, there were three little hostile goats staring at me while standing on some boulders. The funiest thing i've seen in a while.

osheao-

You might be right there. Perhaps a bit of violence will liven things up. At any rate, once this is over, it will be my personal quest to not leave a goat standing in all of Skyrim.
I think, also, I shall cook and eat them.

Saw a hostile goat outside of an Orc stronghold which was being attacked by a giant. After the main event, one red dot remained. The goat didn't attack, but it was hostile. Meeko chased it quite a way down the hill before killing it.
