OH GOD, aaaanother PS3 thread

Post » Fri Nov 18, 2011 1:26 pm

Sorry about this new thread.

It's no console-flaming and very specific.

FPS drops.
This scares the crap out of me. It's in some cases so bad that in leaves the game un-enjoyable.
It's also seems it only happens with older ps3s, the fat ones.
I've got one of those.

Why does it happen?
Can it be fixed in some way?

I can't afford a new console either.. No chance.

View of the FPS-drops below. Minor spoilers, but it's filmed with a toaster.

Calm me down! :( This is ruining my evening totally. Can't get the game until tomorrow, no midnight release.

Well, this won't help much, but I have a slim PS3 250GB, and in FO:NV, I got FPS drops like crazy. Of course, that's a totally different game. Please take into account that the drops could be due to capture software. I've not seen in any reviews (may need to check PSM or somewhere) that stats FPS drops are an issue.

Can this be moved back to the Skyrim forums again, please? No idea why it was moved here.

As said, it's not the overall frames per sec, it's some issue destroying the game totally.

I'm in a similar position - I have an old PS3

I guess we'll just have to play the game and make a decision

I've pre ordered and payed it, so I'm getting it tomorrow. If I encounter this, and it doesn't get fixed by some patch, I'm going to ask for a refund...

Two things first it sounds like your machine, and not the game, so make sure to put it in a well vented area, and to thoroughly clean it. Also make sure to not play your game for more then few hours at a time to avoid heating problems. Another thing, and this is important TURN OFF YOUR AUTO SAVE. I have heard that it causes massive in game stuttering, and frame rate issues as the constant saving every time you enter in to a new area hangs up.

Oh, I haven't tried it yet, buying the game tomorrow. I'm just worried about it happening, that's all. Also, it's not the auto-save stuttering, that I can live with. It's clearly something else, unless it autosaves every 2-3 second, and it doesn't explain the 1 minute-loading when entering/exiting citys and buildings.

Anyways, I'll clean my ps3 free of dust inside, put an extra fan pointed at the ps3 AND deleting lots of stuff from it to free space. Hope it works.. =/

Edit: Haven't heard about any ps3slim users having problems, so that sounds about right. Just the elder models.

Then stop spreading misinformation here is some action intense footage on the ps3 that runs smooth as silk.

I said in my first post that I was going to buy the game tomorrow, though. No misinformation. I also said SOME ps3s.

But sorry if it seemed misleading, wasn't my intention. Just very concerned for tomorrows play session, that's all. :)

That's the whole point you are basically referencing nothing, and agitating the already extremely skeptical ps3 community. What do you mean some ps3's? I just showed you concrete footage that the game is fine, and even that is not enough apparently.

And if you'd view the video I posted, you'd see that some obviously aren't fine. Both the video itself, and some of the comments. And THAT's what I'm afraid of.

Edit: Not game discs, but ps3s. I just wanted to know how to avoid ending up with that fps-drop.

Oh you mean the sub hd video being filmed on a toaster while mine is in HD showing smooth performance? Hmm I wonder which one is a more reliable representation of this game hmmmmm.

I agree, [censored] filmed with a toaster is a bad representation of looks. This isn't about looks. It's about performance. And you can clearly see the issue I'm talking about in the video. I never referred to that video for anything else than the performance based issue of fps-drops.

It's coming from the camera................. You can even see how bad the camera lags when the idiot moves it to look at the tv.

Nope, it's not from the camera. You can see his hands and the controller moving around while the game stutters. Between 0:13 and 0:18, to be exact.

When you film LCD tv screens with sub hd piece of [censored] digital camera's that cant even record a image at 30fps, or a smooth motion when somebody moves there hands in front of it then yes it is the camera.

Also here is a nice comparison video for the xbox 360 compared to the ps3

Well, that particular part you're talking about as an overall bad fps for the camera it has been recorded with, yes, but that doesn't explain 1-2 full seconds stops and 1 minute long loading sequences (which has moving fog on it the entire time, in other words, a good way to tell if it's looped or not, since it never repeats it patterns very suddenly.)

Edit; Yep, seen the comparison. There's speculations going on concerning the xbox360 there, but I'm getting it for the ps3, so it's not relevant to me. The ps3 looks awesome, though.

Well in a nut shell I am saying chilax the ps3 version is going to be awesome. Also the load time in the video was more like 20 seconds which is ordinary for a game that size.

Edit

The extreme lag of the video makes it hard for me to determine the exact time, but the video looks like it is running at about 20 fps, so I cannot count the seconds in real time.

I'm thinking it's going to be awesome aswell, and if I get these problems, I'm sure I'll be able to fix it somehow, it's just a question of how. :)

Only reason I'm so strict with this game is that it's a very big event for me, so I don't want anything stupid like intense stuttering to ruin the experience.

Aslo, sorry if I seem angry or anything, I'm not. Just hard expressing that when in a discussion only based on text, rather than a face to face talk. :)

Just don't think you have to worry about the game is all especially with a troll video from youtube.
